I realized I grabbed a bookbub freebie before I borrowed the KU book - so I read that one instead (since it was the "first" bought/borrowed during the reading period)

Ed Lehman | 417 comments Would Weird Things Customers Say in Bookstores by Jen Campbell work for #4...it's not a novel...but the author works in a bookstore and presumably the anecdotes are mostly hers or ones that have been told to her....

After I wrote this I read the introduction...and the author indicates that all the uncredited anecdotes are hers...and skimming the book, it appears that at least 90% of the stories are not credited to others.

That's fine, Ed.

Just note that it doesn't have to be bookshops as long as they're in retail...

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1510 comments Another question. I've started The Works of Edgar Allan Poe, Volume 4 in June and haven't finished it yet. I have yet to read some of the short stories. Would those stories qualify? It's true that I started reading the book before the challenge started, but I would only count the remaining short stories towards the 12 stories goal. No problem if that doesn't work, I'll simply choose some other book :)

message 107: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9030 comments Mod
Yes those remaining stories can count for this challenge, Marina

Karin Tien wrote: "oh no, which trilogy?"

Alice, I Think, Miss Smithers were fairly good, but so far I'm not as keen on Alice MacLeod, Realist at Last, but it could be because I'm reading it more slowly. I don't know. I haven't even finished one book for this yet.

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments For #3 set in season different, does the book have to be 100% in a different season? I read The Moonlit Garden by Corina Bomann which is set in 2 time periods. About half of the book is set in winter, but I don't know which season it is in the other half. Can it still be used for this task?

Sorry for the delay, Lusie... the last few days of school holidays so been busy with family things :)

It doesn't have to be 100% but the majority would have to be; I'd say at least 75%, sorry...

Sarah - Blessed Mom of Two (sarah1987) I'd like to join but before I put up my list I need some help with some of the tasks. The numbers I need help on are 2,4,6 & 8. For numbers 2 & 4 how can I find books like these? For number 6 how can I go back far enough into the year that I'm not having to wait at the library forever. Then for number 8 can they be contained in the same book like Chicken Soup for the Soul books? Thanks. Sorry for all of the questions :(.

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Sarah, yes for number 8 all short stories can be in 1 book, as long as you list each short story.

Feel free to look at what others have chosen for the numbers you need help with. Apart from the ones I have listed, I don't know which others book can be read. But if I think of something I'll let you know.

Yes, it was on the NY bestseller list in March.

Are you on a mobile or on a pc/laptop?
If you are on a laptop you have to click on "add book/author" (which is above the comment box).
I don't think you can add books if you are using the app on a phone.
