I read Station Eleven for this prompt. I loved it and highly recommend it.

What did you think of your choice: I made a good choice by reading this book. It was great and I can see why people enjoy it.
Would you recommend: Yes

I read The Alice Network by Kate Quinn. It bounces back and forth between 1915 and 1947, with some characters present in both periods. I enjoyed the book, although less so than some others of the same type I've read this year (Code Name Verity and Lilac Girls). The characters were well-drawn. I'd recommend it to people who like war fiction, stories about heroic women, or espionage.

What did you think of your choice: Great group choice for the monthly challenge
Would you recommend: Yes, 100% would recommend to everyone. Loved reading this book and I gave it 5 star rating. It was so unlike anything I'd read before and enjoyed the development of the characters. I'm now really keen to read more titles by Mandel.

I read Station Eleven a couple years ago and didn't want to reread it so I chose Kindred.

What did you think of your choice: I enjoyed the book and was happy with my choice. I liked the time travel aspect of the book. I hadn't heard Kindred prior to seeing the choices on the poll for this group read.
Would you recommend: I would recommend the book.

anyone looking for another suggestion: try Outlander by Diana Gabaldon the first book in a brilliantly written Scottish Historical series!

Would you recommend: Already have! One of the best reads ever. So beautifully written, entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time. Storytelling at its best.

I also read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It was ok, but I don't get the hype - the writing felt trite and the book was way longer than it needed to be. I also was surprised that only the very beginning was set in her "home" timeline... I expected her to jump back and forth more like happens in Kindred. I don't know that I'd recommend it, and I'm not going to read the sequels. I may check out recaps just to satisfy my curiosity as to how the story resolves.

What did you think of your choice: Didn't care for it. I found a hard time following the story and getting lost in all the loose ends.

Title: Pretending to Dance
Author: Diane Chamberlain
What did you think of your choice: I really enjoyed it, and I read through it much quicker than I thought. I rated it 5 stars, but it was probably closer to 4.5 rounded up to a 5. The two time periods were not that far apart (20 years, but both fairly modern) and one of them was given a lot more attention than the other, but it was a good book.

Title: Dreamland Burning
Author: Jennifer Latham
What did you think of your choice: This was excellent, though the first 50 pages or so really dragged for me. After that, though, I could hardly put it down.
Would you recommend: Absolutely! I'm so glad it was included in Modern Mrs. Darcy's Summer Reading Guide; I'd completely missed it.

What did you think of your choice: it was ok, but other works by Chevalier were much better IMO
