Sue | 25 comments Title: A Walk in the Woods
Author: Bill Bryson
What did you think of your choice: I enjoyed it for the most part. Most of the book is about his adventures of walking parts of the Appalachian Trail. What I didn't appreciate was his disdain of people different from him, mostly southerners and people of faith.
Would you recommend: Overall, yes.

What did you think of your choice: This book was very much a fairy tale. I hated the way motherhood was portrayed? But a lot of scenes stuck with me (the swan scene, the final scenes, the scenes of spring while she was exhausted). It was a beautiful book.
Would you recommend: I would recommend

Author: Noelle Stevenson
What did you think of your choice: I loved it! There was a lot more of a fantasy element to it than I expected, so that took a little getting used to, but it was a great book.
Would you recommend: Yes

What did you think of your choice: I really liked this book. It takes a special person to live and thrive in the Alaskan wilderness especially a hundred years ago!

I gave this book 2 stars. The characters were under developed and the storyline was predictable. I would not recommend this book.

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Title: Robinson Crusoe
Author: Daniel Defoe
What did you think? Really didn't like it. I understand that it was written a long time ago but the racist and religious overtones were too much, plus the majority of the book was about growing crops and building boats which isn't interesting to me
Would you recommend? No I don't dislike anyone enough to inflict this book on them

What did you think of your choice: It was a good book and very appropriate for the prompt, with the Alaskan wilderness being a central and crucial aspect of the story. I liked the magical realism aspects for the story and the characters.
Would you recommend: Yes.

Recommend?: Yes, it was a very good book to read. It fall under the young adult category, but it's for anyone who wants to read about a teenager surviving on his own. The character's survival skills were outstanding that at time it made it hard to believe he had that much knowledge. But hey it's a fiction book so just along with and enjoy the book like I did.

What did you think of your choice: Liked it very much. Dragged in parts but overall was a winner. I was a little put off when the main characters were described as old, elderly, etc. They were about my age when the book started!
Would you recommend: Yes
