David Hambling Why did Mrs Creasey not tell her husband she was going away?
Obviously she needed to go away to think, but why did she not tell him, to avoid triggering a nationwide search-- or is this simply a plot device?

Suzeworld Good point. I feel so frustrated by this book. Like it has potential to be good but doesn't quite make it, and things like this are part of the reason why.
Sorry, that's not exactly an answer, it it!

David Hambling Thanks, I'm glad it's not just me.

Oliver Cadam I found it irritating from the outset. It's poorly written, and, as is evident here, sloppily structured, and yet it's covered in endorsements from the great and the good. It even had a 'Sunday Times Best Seller' flag on the cover from day 1! I left it in a hotel room in Belize - unfinished !
Publishing could use some serious regulation in my view.......but publishers are making too much easy money to promote better standards of practice.

It's not just me then. :)
It doesn't really have an ending anyway, so you didn't miss much.

Oliver Cadam ha ha, thanks for that!
