Alma (alma64037) | 28 comments I'm currently reading City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare City of Glass by Cassandra Clare which is the third book in the Mortal Instruments series. The first two books were fantastic and the third one is even better. At first I didn't think I'd like it that much, but I love it! A friend recommended the book to me after she saw the movie and I'm really glad I read it. :)
Anyway, the books are about a girl named Clary. She finds out she's a shadowhunter (a demon killer) after her mom goes missing. She meets Jace, Isabelle and Alec who are also shadowhunters. In the beginning they look down at her because they think she's a mundane (a human) and they don't get along well. Clary has to find this thing called the Mortal Cup(that's one of the mortal instruments) so she can trade it for her mother.
I'm not really good at summary because I always spoil too much so I'll stop here.

message 12: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) I'm about halfway through My Husband Next Door by Catherine Alliott and it is very good so far. I have been checking out the books everyone here is reading and I am intrigued by Cinder and Scarlet. Have added them to read.

message 14: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Anna Karenina 50 pages into it, very good so far.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I am currently reading Winger: Winger (Winger, #1) by Andrew Smith ! I am more than halfway through it, which makes me sad since I really like it. The main character is funny and witty and relatable. I just love the way the author portrays the main character's POV. Plus, it has some comics here in there every few chapters drawn by Ryan Dean (main character) which are funny and always make me laugh out loud :)

It really is! I'll admit it might not be the type of book for everyone but if you ever do read it, I hope you like it.

message 19: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I'm now reading Charles_HRH guide to Great Britishness by Charles_HRH which I actually bought in London. I need a break from all my class reads. Maybe it will help me to understand Jason better lol

message 20: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments If you want to understand me more then you'll have to read everything by Dr Seuss.

message 21: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Is it weird that I have never read Dr. Seuss at all? In Germany we don't grow up with his books, same goes for Roald Dahl which I think is such a shame

message 22: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Yes it is weird, go to the library and get out green eggs and ham.

message 23: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I'm currently reading The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden it is ok so far.

message 24: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments See, just like me, very annoying. haha

message 25: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I think how much you like Dr Seuss is down to how it is read to you, if you can get the rhyming perfect and have a silly voice too it can be great fun.

message 26: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I maybe try out some Dr. Seuss when I'm finished with my uni books

Btw currently reading Black Swan Green by David Mitchell aka Cloud Atlas guy, which I also haven't read. Hopefully it will be better than the last two books I had to read for class

message 37: by Ness (new)

Book #2 is better, keep reading it is actually good"

I agree the second one is the best in the trilogy.

I just started to read Pride and Prejudice because my friend loves it. Usually I woud stay far away from it

Nicole Jason wrote: "Also just started a clockwork orange, really looking forward to this one."

Oooo sounds great. Let me know what you think of this one!

message 39: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Just finished reading Piercing
It wasn't what I expected, & I'm a little disappointed as I read the book from a recommended list of "scariest books to read". Not scary in a horror way, but a disturbing way. I really didn't find it that disturbing & I expected a lot more! I love true crime books & stories so I've read a lot more crazy things than this book!

message 40: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Hi Nicole, a clockwork orange is interesting so far, certainly not for everybody, the author has created lots of new words and I am have to re-read bits to figure out what they mean, flowing really well though.

Have you read American psycho? Probably the most disturbing book I have ever read.

message 41: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Haven't read American Psycho, but I've seen the movie. Although that was a long time ago. Maybe I can fit it into the 2015 reading challenge at some point!

message 42: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Yes I would recommend it, worth looking into if it got banned as it would fit that slot. prepare to be disturbed. hehe

message 43: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) I am currently reading Mapp and Lucia Mapp and Lucia by E.F. Benson which is the fourth book in the series and like the others it is wickedly funny, I can't recommend them enough. I am also readingOne Kick One Kick by Chelsea Cain

message 46: by Michaela (last edited Feb 27, 2015 04:32AM) (new)

Michaela (yuvilee) | 158 comments Started reading After (After, #1) by Anna Todd as a book with bad reviews (couldn't quite get myself to read Shades of Grey, this at least seems to have a bit better writing). And i already had the urge to throw it against a wall :D
But at the moment it's not that bad so i'll try to finish it :D

message 47: by Kay (new)

Kay | 37 comments Currently reading

I'm not sure it got better afterwards :D
But i'm through even though the ending was really bad (and alspo a cliffhanger so i would have to read the second one... i'm not sure i want that..).
Back to Joyland by Stephen King which is much better :D

message 50: by Kay (new)

Kay | 37 comments Just finished The Selection The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass sweet light quick read. I liked it. Need more though. :)
