Jillian (jkinder4224) | 18 comments I can't post the picture from my phone, but a woman was hired by Paramount to write the script for Looking for Alaska. Thoughts?

monique - persephone (cakes-lollies) | 7 comments Hey john announced it! I'm pretty excited. If lfa gets released then aok then paper towns they'll be released in the way I read them.

I'm so excited (for both selfish reasons and for John himself)! I always said that lfa would make an amazing film - so fingers crossed!
It's really sad, but me and my friend are so excited that we have already been fan casting:') I'm intrigued to see who will be cast, as I believe the casting is extremely important (especially in a book with such complex characters).

Jillian (jkinder4224) | 18 comments I agree Rachel. My friend is worried that the book is going to become super-mainstream like tfios did, and we kind of regard LFA as the small child we lock in the closet so no one can hurt it.

Yeah, but I guess that's the price we have to pay.... But at least we can say we were there since the beginning (and actually READ THE BOOK)!

monique - persephone (cakes-lollies) | 7 comments Why is it so bad that tfios went main stream? I was in a book shop and saw THREE teenagers pick it up in the span of half an hour. I think it's fantastic that John's books are encouraging our youth to start reading. They'll start with trios, might move on to more of his books and then find others they like.

John thinks it is great that more people are reading and people in this community putting "newbies" down isn't cool. We were alls newbie at one point so why put those down that are finding out about him because of the movie?

If he encourages more teens, kids, etc to read then I say good.

Jillian (jkinder4224) | 18 comments Allow me to rephrase. I have no issue with teenagers, adults, children, etc, that read the book. I LOVE the fact that more people are reading books because it was and is my escape from reality, and I want to share my love of books with everyone.

My issue is with the teeny-boppers that claim they read the book (when they really didn't) and are "omfgzomg" dead set fans of the movie. These people are the ones that denounce other fans and misconstrue the deeper meaning of the book. I'm sorry that my point did not come across as intended.

I'm not saying that I dislike those who read the book, what I'm saying is that I dislike people who think they 'are too cool for reading' and say 'what's the point in reading if you can see the film?'
That's what I don't like.
I am also happy that John's books have become so popular - as more people get to have their lives changed by his incredible writing.
But I'm not going to lie ..... It does annoy me (in an amazingly selfish way) that it isn't nerdfighteria's little secret anymore.
I am aware that thinking that way is very mean of me though.

Chloe Blackburn (onlyabookaway) | 9 comments Please tell me i'm not the only one who doesn't want LFA to become a movie? I mean whilst I love John Green and everything else. I just don't see it becoming a movie and I mean when it's a movie everyone is going to love it without reading the book and that annoys me. Also, Looking For Alaska is in a way my seceret, no one I know really knows about it and when the films out it'll be like an exposed secret, Eurgh

Abby | 12 comments Everyone already knows about looking for Alaska. The closest you can get in Johns books to a secret it an abundance of Katherine's. other wise I agree with you but I would like to see it as a movie.
