Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future
by
Ashlee Vance
Synopsis:
Elon Musk is a business and technology revolutionary. Ashlee Vance details his rise to power in Silicon Valley, showing how Musk's tough upbringing, odd personality, and high level of intelligence took him on a path toward achieving what others thought was impossible.
Musk is making space travel and transport, electric cars, and solar power accessible and affordable. Musk has done this with an impressive comprehension of physics and mastery of engineering and computer programming, but he has also taken unique approaches to the organization of his businesses.
Vance shows how Musk has been able to pursue some of humanity's most expensive and ambitious endeavors at a small fraction of the price that other companies are charging for them. Vance addresses Musk's critics, including his ex-wife, former business partners who have been fired, quit, and/or sued him, journalists and competitors who have spoken out against him, and even the trolls on forums who tell everyone to short Tesla's stock.
While Vance reveres Musk, he does not hold back from giving a voice to his critics and reporting the full story in a fair manner. This is an excellent biography that is culturally interesting and useful for any reader interested in business, science, and technology.

Instead of Book Review - we use the word Synopsis: but everything else is spot on Elon has gotten into the news lately once again
Elon Musk's SpaceX could pass a huge milestone next Wednesday, when it is scheduled to launch its first manned rocket. A Falcon 9 is scheduled to launch at 4:33 PM on May 27th carrying the Crew Dragon capsule and 2 American astronauts. It will be . They will have live streams of the launch from SpaceX and NASA so that you can watch this historic event. The SpaceX launches are fun to watch, as they provide live camera shots of the launchpad, the landing location of the Falcon 9 first stage, which is sometimes on a drone ship, and various parts of the spacecraft. Musk and NASA know how to put on a good show.
Douglass that is going to be very interesting. It has been awhile hasn't it. Why so long?
Something exciting to watch during covid 19 (smile).

Did you watch the launch? I was nervous about our first manned space flight in years, but it went smoothly and the Crew Dragon capsule made it to the International Space Station. Watching those boosters come back down for a landing never gets old.
I did! I was nervous for both of them. So powerful also seeing them both at work with the Russian team eventually.
I just worried that everybody was rusty at NASA.
