Brooke | 2 comments This was my first time using a beta reader, and Gaby was absolutely the right choice! She provided a lot of constructive feedback and was very easy to work with. I'll definitely be turning to her again!

message 52: by Elijah (new)

Elijah | 12 comments In May, I contacted Gaby on her site. She responded quickly and told me her earliest availability. I agreed, and at the beginning of June, I sent her my 117,000-word Fantasy/Sci-Fi manuscript.

Within three weeks, she sent back an extremely thorough review that was insightful as heck. In addition to kindly pointing out grammatical errors I had made, she truly tried to understand the ambiguous motivations of my seventeen-year-old, uninformed characters. (Sorry, Gaby.)

She has made incredible suggestions regarding pacing, transition of scenes, and overall plot structure. I included a massive amount of foreign terminology and technology, and for the most part, she kept up with it like a seasoned Fantasy/Sci-Fi pro. But she also made it clear when she was lost, helping me isolate where I needed to be clearer.

Finally this is going to sound sappy, but it might be important to authors who are protective of their work. I think Gaby is a good person. Generally when people say “show, don’t tell they mean the author should illustrate more of the world and have the characters speak rather than think. With Gaby, it was the exact opposite. To her, ‘telling was describing the world, while ‘showing was describing the inner monologue of my often confused and overwhelmed characters.

When I was younger, my aunt and I watched the Star Wars movies, 4-6 followed by 1-3. She liked the originals, but she said regarding the prequel trilogy, “They don’t really stick to what’s important. I remember thinking, “Isn’t it the exact opposite? The originals follow the personal story of a few rebels, while the prequels follow the politics and the big picture.

But to my aunt, the most important thing was the people. I think Gaby has a similar perspective, and she isn’t wrong. I have so much work to do, defining my characters not for myself and my make-believe world, but for my reader. Thanks to Gaby’s feedback, I feel confident and excited to start that process.

Thank you Gaby! I hope someday to employ your services again.

Elijah :)

Kell | 3 comments Testimonial of Gaby's work -

Working with Gaby was a pleasure! She was quick, thorough, understanding, and very communicative. Gaby was able to put into words what I didn't like about my writing - in the nicest and most helpful way possible! Her feedback is primarily questions which I find super helpful for filling in details and seeing what questions the reader has that are not being answered. Her final review summary was 10 pages long -wow!- and was so thorough. I usually dread revision, but her feedback and comments and made me motivated to improve my novel and has given me a roadmap of how to do that.

I will 100% be working with Gaby again. She is more than worth what she charges - a no question investment in your writing!

Lisa | 26 comments Gaby completed a beta read for my mystery novel. She was prompt and willing to share progress throughout her edit. (I asked her not to do this as I thought it would stress me out and Gaby respected this 😊)
On top of a very thorough beta edit, Gaby included a report that covered key elements of the story.
I know her edits will greatly improve my novel along with providing tips for that final polish before I send it out.
Highly recommend Gaby for your writing!

message 56: by Gerasimos (new)

Gerasimos Kountouris | 1 comments Writing can often feel like a lonely endeavor, which for the most part is. We are trapped in our own minds, creating worlds and characters for others to see, trying to get a point across in an entertaining way that goes beyond the mundane. So for me, I can't stress enough, how happy I was to have discovered Gaby and thankful that she was the first to take a glimpse into my world. Her feedback, work ethic, and suggestions are incredible. She's made me realize mistakes in my story that I would never have thought of otherwise. Whether it's a small line that doesn't seem consistent with a character, or a plot device that's not properly configured, Gaby's comments on every page (I'm especially fond of the end of chapter ones) are always on point. I am very grateful for her work and I can't thank her enough for always taking the time to peer into our worlds!

Ray Verola | 6 comments I've just gone through a ten-page manuscript review and the track changes on my full manuscript that Gaby did on a beta read. I must say, I think she did a terrific job. She pointed out some things I will work on to make my writing better.
I would not hesitate to use her again. Highly recommended.

Hailey Morrison (haileymorrison) | 1 comments I must say, Gaby did an AMAZING job working through my sci-fi manuscript and brought up some very helpful revision points for it. I was able to use it to tighten the plot in the second half of the story something that I really struggled with.

So glad that I found her services, and would 110% recommend her services! Thank you so much, Gaby! :)

Nicole (morgueharker) | 1 comments I stumbled across Gaby’s Beta Reading services on a random tiktok comment and decided to give it a go. Gaby is thorough, professional, and provides exceptional feedback that is easy to understand. You can tell she enjoys what she does. I was so impressed with her work that I will be using her services in the future.

Lori | 4 comments Hello everyone!

This is the first time I've had the privilege of having Gaby for a beta reader, but I hope it isn't the last time. Without bias, I can honestly say she did a fantastic, thorough and professional job. She obviously knew what she was doing and made several excellent suggestions and comments, along with being very encouraging. I very much hope she is still beta reading when I finish my next story!

Thank you again, Gaby! I'm so glad I found you on ŷ!!

message 61: by Russell (new)

Russell Isler | 11 comments Gaby's beta read of my manuscript (Urban Fantasy) was completed in record time! Despite the speed, it was detailed and comprehensive. Her report arrived in two components. Commentary and reactions in the doc I had sent, which gave me a sense of how my prose was landing as she read it as well as more measured critique of what worked, what didn't and what was missing. The other part was a pdf consisting of an overall critique and analysis of the plot structure and characters.
All in all I am very satisfied with her service and definitely recommend it if you're looking to improve your manuscript.

Jeff Perkins | 5 comments I love Gaby!!

She just finished a beta review of my debut novel. Amazing feedback!! Extremely thorough, diligent, professional. Fastidiously objective and balanced, letting me know what worked and didn't, all in a very thoughtful and encouraging voice - a real pleasure to work with!

She used a preformatted final review template that was quite comprehensive and perspicacious. And she filled it to overflowing with sharp insights, detailed explanations, helpful tips and suggestions. This was supplemented by prodigious in-line comments providing targeted "in-the-moment" perspectives, analysis, and emotional reactions.

Gaby has been bend-over-backwards responsive to my questions and directives. Thru her industry and editorial chops, she's provided on-point guidance and developmental ideas that have helped set my next course.

If this novel ever takes flight, Gaby will have been a key contributor to its launch. Thanks, Gaby!!

Jeanie Wolfe | 1 comments I submitted my latest novel to Gaby for her beta reading service and was thoroughly impressed with her quick turnaround time and quality work. Working with her was delightful from our first email exchange until I received the final documents. She does an outstanding job of identifying the book's strengths and proposing improvements. She not only gave me the original manuscript with tracked changes but also an extensive 8-page Read Through Report. Her feedback was constructive and extremely helpful. I'm so impressed that I've already booked her services for my next novel. Gaby provided an outstanding beta reading experience that I highly recommend. Thank you very much!

message 64: by Roger (new)

Roger Heath | 4 comments Over the last 4 or so years creating and writing my fantasy trilogy, I've had the immense privilege of Gaby’s wonderful eye over my three books, each works over 180k. Over those years of writing, beta review, rewriting, review etc I’ve used around 14 betas, each in their own right providing wonderful insights to help me improve my work. But Gaby stood high above them all, becoming invaluable to me to enable me to achieve what I wanted. In fact I had sleepless nights, worrying that she would stop beta-reading before I passed on my final book of the trilogy.

Why? Because she follows the details of the plot, she hears the subtle voice of the characters, she feels the pacing. She spots inconsistencies, she tells you when it's working and when it's not. She gives you in-document, page-by-page, chapter-by-chapter feedback. She doesn’t pull punches. She challenges you. But she offers wonderful advice.

And so, my writing improved, my story improved.

But you have to do your part. Listen to the feedback, then act on it. It might take you seconds to dismiss parts of her feedback because you know you why you've written it a particular way. It might take you a few minutes, or an hour, or a day to act on something you agree needs changing. Or weeks.

And it might take you months, because you understand a significant, structural change is needed.

And that's why Gaby is such a valuable asset. Her feedback goes well beyond a typical beta. I reckon she will soon become a development editor, because if you fully engage and work with what she gives you back (and I really recommend you take advantage of her two pass offering which I did), you will indeed end up structurally editing your work for the better. She really is far beyond many, many betas in what she gives you back.

As you can tell, I think she’s unbelievably good, and suggest that if you have the chance, engage her with your work. You won’t regret it.

message 65: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 5 comments So grateful to Gaby. Not only did she have an extremely fast turnaround, but the report she provided was detailed and very clear/ thorough.

Gaby is clearly very passionate about what she does and her comments are so valuable. She is clearly a skilled writer herself, with a good eye for editing.

An all around lovely person to deal with and I will be going back to her when my manuscript is finished.

Thanks again, Gaby!

message 66: by JungTaco (new)

JungTaco Even though neither Gaby or I have worked on video games before, her observations on the story were very detailed and helpful, both the positive and negative remarks. She is very open and clear about everything, even providing a summary of the feedback. Her writing expertise is evident and I 100% recommend her.

message 67: by Noah (new)

Noah Binder | 1 comments Gaby did a top-notch job of reading and understating my story. Her beta reading service has improved my book by helping me identify areas for improvement. The read-through report is extensive, covering the characters, the plot, pacing, worldbuilding, and much more. Along with this report, she includes inline comments and, out of all the beta readers I have used, interacts with the story the most, whether it be positive or negative aspects. It’s a difficult to write and share a book, but receiving feedback on my strengths encourages me to stay motivated and confident in my abilities.

Based on my interactions with Gaby, she comes across as kind and caring. It’s clear she has a genuine desire for my book to succeed. She’s open to interacting after she has completed her work, which is a great option if you are looking to work things out after receiving comments. She receives an A+. Do not pass Go and miss this opportunity to work with her. You will not regret it.

message 68: by Gaius (new)

Gaius | 1 comments This has been my first real attempt at creating a story. I do a lot of technical/academic writing, and trying to transition into more of a narrative style has been challenging. Gaby was extremely helpful in identifying areas that could be improved while also providing positive feedback on aspects that worked well. Her critiques were constructive, to the point, and encouraging. She includes both inline comments and a thorough overview of the story. I highly recommend her services for anyone who is trying to put their stories to paper, and I look forward to working with her in the future.

Tim Landry | 1 comments As a neophyte writer Gaby has been more than patient and kind to me and most of her notes are right on. Her input has been very valuable and I look forward to working with her again.

message 70: by Bryant (new)

Bryant Joseph | 2 comments I appreciated Gaby's feedback. It was very helpful in providing some insights into what is working and what isn't working and allows me to tailor my rewrites to focus on problem areas

Fernando Olivares | 1 comments Gaby helped me with my short stories (flash fiction and vignettes) and provided me punctual feedback. I feel it helped me improve my stories dramatically. Will be contacting her again in the future!

message 72: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1 comments I first worked with Gaby several years ago. Her comments were instrumental in helping me understand my weaknesses as a writer. I had to take a few years away due to ill health, and this also enabled me to study and hone my writing craft. Last year I completely rewrote my book and contacted her again. I got the full package for two rounds of editing and beta feedback and it was completely worth it.

Gaby is great value and incredibly thorough. Her reports are indepth and insightful. She doesn't just correct things, she explains what is wrong and so I always feel like I'm learning a lot. Beyond her skills she's really nice as a person. She never makes me feel like I'm too much trouble, she always seems enthusiastic and like she genuinely wants to read my story. It's a pleasure to work with her. I hope that I will get to work with her on all my books going forward.

message 73: by VC (new)

VC Hanna | 1 comments I 100% recommend Gaby's beta reading services and I will definitely be using her in the future. Writers who are looking for constructive, actionable feedback ... you've found it!

Details: Gaby was extremely professional. Her feedback included a lot of comments within the manuscript and a very thorough report critiquing all the important aspects. The feedback focused on character development, plotting, setting/worldbuilding , dialogue, and technicals. In addition, her turn around time was impressively fast and she also answers follow up questions in a very helpful manner.

message 74: by Eugene (new)

Eugene | 2 comments This is the 2nd time I've used Gaby's beta-reading service. She beta-read for me on my first manuscript right when COVID hit.

Her critique/experience is invaluable. I have suggested her to other people over years asking me offhand if I knew of any good beta-readers. They've all come back having nothing but positive things to say about Gaby.

I would definitely recommend Gaby to anyone looking for a beta-reader.

message 75: by Dennis (new)

Dennis J | 1 comments I asked Gaby to read my YA/Sci-Fi manuscript. Her feedback was thorough and always helpful. No blanket statements like “Show, don’t tell. She points out the places in your manuscript for improvement. She is coaching you to make your work the best it can be.
Unfortunately, life got in the way and it took me a few years before I could roll in her suggestions. I plan to request her help again for the current version of my manuscript.

message 76: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 26 comments Updating here:
Gabby helped me work on my book that has been accepted by a publisher and will be out in the fall of 2026.
Gabby was a huge help with my characters and made my novel stand out among thousands!
Thank you Gabby!

message 77: by Bryant (new)

Bryant Joseph | 2 comments I have worked with Gaby on several manuscripts. She's always one of my first beta readers and provides a lot of value in helping me see the story through the eyes of a keen reader. She annotates as she reads and provides a lot of catalyst for thoughts and rethinking sections
