Jessica had a great idea and shared it with me. Since this is October and this wonderful month has a Friday the 13th in it, we'd like to coordinate a Group Movie Watch on that Friday and then discuss the movie here afterwards. So, as of right now, the poll is open for nominations for which movie we want to watch. The movies with the most nominations will be used put together and a thread will be set up to vote on it. Which movie would you like to nominate?

message 2: by Lena (new)

Lena What a good idea! How about Halloween? It's been years since I heard Jamie Curtis scream.

message 3: by Marc (new)

Marc (scrappyxii) | 2 comments The original classic Friday the 13th would seem so appropriate given the day.
Alternatively, Halloween 3 is an under-appreciated installment of the series.
And Trick ‘r Treat is a great Halloween based anthology movie.
So hard to choose!

message 4: by F.D. (new)

F.D. Gross (goodreadscomfd_gross) | 9 comments I nominate Bram Stoker's Dracula or Dracula Untold

message 5: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) Trick r treat!

message 6: by Glen (new)

Glen Krisch The Mist.

message 7: by Ashley (new)

Ashley sounds fun! how about Horror of Dracula?

message 8: by Adam (new)

Adam (adamreads1) Friday the 13th

Tattooed Horror Reader (tattooedreader13) I'm brand new to the group, but would vote for Friday the 13th (the original) or Trick r Treat.

message 10: by Erin (new)

Erin (everchanginglady) I'm in for Trick r Treat.

message 11: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Senteney (trollbridgeblogger) | 18 comments I am going to watch a new movie, called, What Happened To Monday

message 12: by Jessie (new)

Jessie | 31 comments I nominate Trick r Treat too. Great movie.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I too LOVE Trick 'r Treat. It seems to be a cult classic, and rightfully so! Failing that, I think it's fair to say that Cabin in the Woods is a modern classic. Such an intelligent but loving send-up of the entire horror genre.

message 14: by Sheri (new)

Sheri | 11 comments I vote the original Friday the 13th, no doubt!!!!

message 15: by Adam (new)

Adam Rodriguez | 3 comments I'd have to go with Trick 'r Treat myself!!!

message 16: by Sheri (new)

Sheri | 11 comments Since this is a "Friday the 13th" theme, what better than the original Friday the 13th movie?

If we're going "Halloween" theme or if we do this again ON 10/31, then I say 1978 Halloween starring the original boogeyman himself, Michael Myers.....no doubt.

message 17: by Kieron (new)

Kieron I'd never heard of trick r treat. Just had a quick look on IMDB and I am definitely up for this on Friday 13th.

message 18: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) I love cabin in the woods! What a Funtime!!

message 19: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) Trick r Treat!

message 20: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenorbach) I definitely vote Trick r Treat

message 21: by Francesc (new)

Francesc | 1 comments I have heard great things about The Awakening (2011)...

message 22: by Brian (new)

Brian | 1 comments Jason X (2001)

message 23: by Lena (new)

Lena

message 24: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Synborski (suzanneski) | 1 comments Bram Stoker's Dracula or
Rigor Mortis.

message 25: by June (new)

June (-_-_-june-_-_-_) | 10 comments I'm going to be a glutton and suggest watching Trick r Treat and Halloween! ;)

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 44 comments TRICK R TREAT is amazing, actually- it has an old-school, scary fairy tale type of vibe, and plays out in vignettes- mini-films, really, and FEELS like an anthology, you know? --Jen from Quebec :0)

message 27: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) Yep 🖤😍💕

message 28: by David (new)

David Brian (davidbrian) June wrote: "I'm going to be a glutton and suggest watching Trick r Treat and Halloween! ;)"

I'm with June; Halloween presented a seminal moment in horror movie history, which untold others have tried to emulate; but Trick r Treat is a great Halloween movie, too. And, as Jennifer says, it really does capture that 'old school' feel.

I say let's double bubble! ;)

message 29: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) Yeah! That sounds fun David!

message 30: by Kieron (new)

Kieron If this going to be a regular thing. Once a month, fortnight, a week,. would it not be easier to just vote for one film at a time.

message 31: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth McKinley | 677 comments Mod
It's all about demand. If people participate, we'll do it again. If not, we won't. Now, with that being said, I would love it if it became a regular thing.

message 32: by Adam (new)

Adam I'm surprised It Follows hasn't been nominated. A great modern throwback to slasher films of the 80s and 90s. Trick r' Treat is also good.

message 33: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) I wouldn't mind it become a regular thing either.

message 34: by Kieron (new)

Kieron What about fortnightly. I don't know how hard these things are to set up. i.e. polls, messages, voting etc

message 35: by D20 (new)

D20 | 173 comments I don't have a DVD player. :(

message 36: by J.J. (new)

J.J. Fowler | 1 comments What about the original Dawn of the Dead from 1978?

message 37: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth McKinley | 677 comments Mod
The overwhelming consensus was for these three movies, Friday the 13th, Trick R Treat, and Halloween. Since we have three weekends before Halloween, here's what we're going to do. We will watch all of them.

The schedule will be as follows:

Friday, October 13th - Friday the 13th (1980)
Friday, October 20th - Trick R Treat (2007)
Friday, October 27th - Halloween (1978)

I will set up each individual threads. You're free to go on there anytime and discuss the movies. To avoid spoilers, don't go on the thread until after you've watched the movie. If this turns out to be a hit, we'll continue with 4 more movies in November.

message 38: by Lena (new)

Lena Time?

message 39: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) Awesome!!

Now that sounds like a good plan! I haven't watched Friday the 13th for quite a few years. Great movie to kick things off!

I think that's about 2am in my world, so I'll probably start without you! ;)

Once a month would work out well I reckon, Latasha.:)

message 44: by Tim (new)

Tim Gunter | 15 comments Since I've been cursed with working friday nights and saturday morning so I probably won't be able to participate much, but it sounds like an awesome idea.

message 45: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) I agree David

message 46: by Kieron (new)

Kieron Good plan Ken. Are we going to have a nomination/vote system in the future?

message 47: by Terry (new)

Terry | 47 comments Just FYI, if you have access to the Syfy channel, the movie Trick 'r Treat is on this Tuesday 10/10 at 9:00pm central time, Wednesday 10/11 at 12:30pm central and Thursday 10/19 at 10:00pm central. Time to set the recorder!

message 48: by Lena (new)

Lena I’ll set Trick or Treat to tape. I just checked and Friday the 13th is on the free video on demand (Grande Cable). I’ll be online watching with you guys at 7 Central!!!

Theoretically, you could start anytime you would like. The thread will remain open indefinitely. Also, I warn all of you, if you haven't watched the movies, to not go through the posts of the threads because there will be spoilers.

Tim, watch it when your schedule allows and then join in on the conversation. The thread will be up indefinitely.
