1) I'm from Chicago, but have lived most of my last twenty-five years in Georgia and now South Carolina. We have everything in the Southeast: beaches, mountains, great climate, and a rich history, cuisine, and culture.
2) I have loved things lycanthropic since viewing the film Werewolf in London soon after it came out in 1981. I also like the classic 1930s and 1940s werewolf films and Michael J. Fox's rendition. The grossly horror stuff is hard for me to take in visual form. I'll come out of the closet and admit I'm an Underworld and Twilight series (movies only) fan too. These experiences have all made me want to read more werewolf stories.
3) I have a BA in English and an MA in creative writing, but have had woefully little success writing so far. I am co-writing a science fiction book that will be published early next year. It has a horrifying alien in it, but not one with canine traits.
4) I want to expand my knowledge of werewolf lore and hope to one day write a worthwhile werewolf story myself. In the meantime, I hope to make good acquaintances here. My widely-read friend Scott (the awesome co-moderator of this humble group) has already introduced me to Martin Millar's world of werewolves, which I am grateful for because that was one fun read I would not have come across if not for him.

1) I am originally from Kentucky and still have four siblings (and most of their families) living there. I also have a sibling living in New Hampshire. I have lived in Michigan for the past 30 years. Before that we were transferred a lot. The company my husband worked for moved us up here when I was pregnant with our first child. When I got pregnant with our second child, that darn company wanted to move us again!! I said, "No way, babe! You find another job!!" And so he did and we are very happy here in Southern Michigan. I love that it is cool weather here. I love the Great Lakes. All the winter sports and the snow is beautiful. We also own a home on ten acres on Beaver Island, Michigan. That is much farther north than where we live.
2) Read a couple of werewolf series and was delighted when I found this group.
3) I do not write. However, when my puppy broke her leg on Beaver Island last summer, every night I would hold her in bed and tell her a story and she would go to sleep. But that's just part of being a mother. I wrote some music when I worked, usually chanted stuff. Not anything I would have published, more like emergency liturgical music.
4) New friendships, discussions about the books we read and become more knowledgeable about werewolf lore. I would have never chosen that Scottish girl werewolf book we read and I didn't care too much for it at the time, but it has grown on me over the months. I'm trying to keep an opened mind

I know exactly what you mean! I think we way northerners do appreciate the summers more than those in the south. Sometimes when I have a migraine, I become very thankful for it, because it makes me appreciate the days without pain that much more.

Hi Damian, I am located one state south of you. It's nice to have you on board as a member of our recharging group. I remember The Werewolf of Fever Swamp. I read it aloud as a bed time story to my 7-year-old stepdaughter fifteen years or so ago. She liked it. Didn't they make a film version of it too?
Congrats on writing a werewolf book. For October-November's read, nominations for 21st century werewolf books will be the menu. You can certainly nominate yours if you wish.

Thanks! And yes, I think they did make a movie short of it, but the book was so much better. It's great to be part of the community. Looking forward to it. I am always thinking of a new angle to approach the werewolf condition, from biological to more supernatural. Good reading!

Hi, I'm Jeff and I live in the DC suburbs. I lived here most of my life except when I was in graduate school in New Orleans. I grew up loving Stephen King's movie Silver Bullet and as Dan mentioned, the RL Stine werewolf book. They fueled my interest in horror and though I wasn't much of a reader when I was younger, I've been catching up on my reading over the last few years. I've made fleeting efforts at writing throughout my life but have never written anything worth reading. I hope to get some good recommendations and conversation out of the group!

My pen name is Peter Topside and I am a first time, self-published author out of NJ. I put out the first book in my horror trilogy, Preternatural last Fall, and will be releasing the second book in a few months.
I look forward to being an active member of this group!

I love the old-school horrific and violent, classic werewolves of the past. They are the ones I love to read about or watch on tv.
I’m joining this group for a lot of recommendations of werewolf books and movies. So please feel free to send me a recommendation whenever you think of one.

Hi Peter. Preternatural is a great title. It's a word we don't use that often any more. Maybe because not much distinguishes it from the word supernatural. Maybe because the prefix lacks clear, independent meaning. In any event, welcome.
I hope your writing continues to go well. I'd be interested to read about it if and when you are able to publish something in a periodical. From what I understand, getting published in online ones, while it doesn't pay much, is not as hard as it once was to get published at all.
Edit: I just checked it out and that's a really cool cover on your book: /book/show/4.... It's wonderful when you find an illustrator you can work well with, isn't it?

Hi Zain. I've been valuing your input here at the group for a number of months now, but official welcome anyhow. Good to have you with us.

Thanks, Dan, for the compliment.

I am from Northern Ireland and I am writing a series of books about werewolves in Northern Ireland, I have published two so far and book three has just been sent to the publishers (in Vancouver). I plan on writing six books in total.
I am a massive fan of the subject, read a lot of Keri Arther, Pat Briggs, Lori Handleland, Anne Rice etc
I am always on the look out for other great books, so let me know :-)
My books are called 'Moon Dancing' volume one and two.

I created a topic about your book Moon Dancing for you here: /topic/show/... if you and/or members want to discuss it further.

You may recommend werewolf books anytime.

Please use this topic to tell us something about yourself, even if you have been here a while. Tell us whatever you want us to know about you. Besides that I would be most interested in knowing the following as well:
1) Where are you from and why are you there?
2) What is your experience with werewolves and the literature about them?
3) Do you write? Have you published anything?
4) What do you hope to get out of being one of us?
