take the total to 52."

Just seen this, John - 52 books! That’s brilliant :)

John R I've finally finished the 10-book "Space Team" series by Barry Hutchinson, reading The King of Space Must Die and Space Team: Sting of the Mustard Mines. Neither book was as good as the earlier books in the series, but I still enjoyed them.

A very different read was Matters of Life & Death by Bernard MacLaverty - an excellent collection of short stories.

A total of 55 now; I'd like to hit 60 by the end of the year but that may be over-ambitious.

Wow! I read about 60 books in a year, but they are all over the place with only a few Scotland-related. Do you read other books, too?

My total for this year will be just under 100 Lorna, so yes. The proportion of Scotland-related books is higher than normal at the moment - partly because of this group, and partly because of some research I'm doing into a couple of aspects of Scottish history that interest me.

John R Two interesting old books on the 1820 Radical Rising in Scotland -

A True Narrative of the Radical Rising in Strathaven by John Stevenson
Fighters for Freedom in Scotland: The Days of Baird and Hardie. by William Stewart

This is a topic that'll feature heavily in my reading list for 2019.

John R Three very different books take my total for the year to 61:-

(All were "easy" reads, I tend to comfort read at this time of the year).

Glitter of Mica by Jessie Kesson, is the second book from Kesson which I've read...and it was excellent.

Sentienced to Death by Barry J. Hutchison is the latest (no 11) in his Space Team series, and is a return to form.

Hings by Chris McQueer is certainly different (and funny); I look forward to reading some more from this author.
