How often do you read? When do you find time to read with life's busy schedule? How much time do you spend reading each day/week/etc?
I would read all the time if I could, but we jobs, life, and more get in the way. :)

Karen ⚜Mess⚜ I read every day. I don't own/watch tv, so that frees up a lot of my time.

During the work week I don't get to read as much as I like, of course. But I do cheat during the slow season at work and sneak in reading time. I use Kindle Cloud for this because opening a book at my desk is frowned upon.

I would say average hours a day reading during the week would be about 2-3 and 4-6 on the weekend if I can get away with it.

message 3: by Lydia (new)

Lydia I read almost every day before bed. I usually read for about 2, 2 1/2 hours. Sometimes more. Love it.

message 4: by Seis (new)

Seis | 36 comments I try and read in bed before going to sleep every night. When I can, i read during the day as well, but unfortunately that doesn't happen as often as i'd like!

message 5: by Oliver (new)

Oliver Kent | 8 comments I find the kindle PC app lets me devour non-fiction.

I had a pile of about 50 books in my bedroom which I've whittled down to 5 over the last week.

I seem to have drifted out of fiction since Pratchet died. I keep meaning to look at the new Shadowrun books...

I love the Text to speech feature on my kindle I can listen to books more often with this feature. I read every day, before bed most nights, and anytime I can. I have about 7,500 books on my kindle and I like physical books. My husband first got me a kindle because he was tried of making bookshelves. Can you believe it?

message 7: by Oliver (new)

Oliver Kent | 8 comments Ha, I put up new bookshelves last week :)

Also inspired by this, last night I got a Shadowrun novel on Kindle. "I'll just read five pages" turned into "an hour later..."

I've been there, it is hard to put down a good book. :)

I also like audiobooks. Some are better than others, as all books go, but I like a change sometimes.

message 11: by Kenny (new)

Kenny Hyman Constantly. If I'm not reading a book, I'm doing down rabbit holes on wikipedia or blogs.

I love to read and let books take me away. I think I have a book addiction, no I know I have one. But I don't mind! lol

message 13: by Cyn (last edited Feb 10, 2018 05:10PM) (new)

Cyn Honestly, I like to focus on one hobby at a time. There are periods of time --months-- when all I do is read. And when I don't read, I focus on other thing, like knitting, origami, anime & manga, TV, or playing badminton.

I do love to play badminton! Maybe we can get a game going sometime.

Reilly Singfiel I read almost every day and like Aly I think I have an addiction to books. I don't really have anything else to do with my time and books are great ways to disappear for a little bit into a new adventure.

I totally agree with you! I do lots of reading in my job, some people might that is sooo much reading but I read for fun and work. :) I will admit fun reading is much better! I can go or do anything within the pages of a book, possibilities are endless!

That's amazing and a great thing. Not everyone gets into reading which is unfortunate and a loss. I agree that fun reading is better and you are so right about being able to do anything or go anywhere, that's the great thing about reading.

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy quinn I read every day...

I finish one book and start another right away.

I am reading the hunger games

message 19: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2 comments I'm a full time student so my time for pleasure reading is limited, unfortunately. I read when I finish studying or homework for the day. Sometimes I fit in a few chapters, sometimes a few pages, sometimes just a couple sentences before passing out. But I am nearing the end of nursing school, particularly this quarter, and things are easing a little bit so I've been fitting it in way more. When I graduate (end of August), I plan to read as much as possible.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Whenever I'm not on the web, or writing, or editing--I'm reading. Not so much lately, since I'm trying to get a third novel out by April (?)

I, too, work in the healthcare field. I love it. Congrats on graduating soon! I know it will free you up a little more to read for fun. Nursing is a great field to get into. :)

message 22: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia (sylviarodarte) I read everyday! I somehow feel like something is missing or just "out of sorts" if I don't get a dose od some sort of drama going on in someone else's life. LOL Also, I love going to new places and learning new things all from the comfort of my own home.

message 23: by Arizbeth (new)

Arizbeth Corona (arizbeth_corona) I read daily but sometime it depends on what i have to do and if i am able to finish to have time to read.

message 24: by Jim (new)

Jim Vuksic I am an avid reader and always have a book in the process of being read. That said; I have a lot of other interests, so it usually takes me 2 to 3 weeks to finish a book.

message 25: by Karin (new)

Karin It varies. At my best, I can read a couple of books a day, but that is not common as I have too much to do. I usually read every day, but how much varies on my schedule and if I watch TV (I often take TV fasts).

Abilahhotmail.Com | 1 comments I bring my book with me everywhere so I can read whenever I have the time. I usually read the most before bedtime. There are days I get so engrossed in a book that I continue to read way past my bedtime 😅

message 27: by FloorM (new)

FloorM I am a student and have lots of classes and deadlines so it's really hard to find time to read. Right now I'm trying to read one book a month even though I'd love to read more often. Sometimes I don't read for a couple weeks straight :(

message 28: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina Iannone | 5 comments I read almost all the time. I have books everywhere; at my locker at work, school, and I even have a couple underneath my pillow.
I usually like to read at night. I'll lay by the window and read using the light from the moon.
I usually get teased about reading, but I don't really care. I used to get in trouble all the time in school because I'd read during class.
I think people love to read because the idea of escape into another world is thrilling when we're faced with our own mortal dilemma's.

message 29: by Nikky (new)

Nikky (nikkytheraspberry) | 2 comments I try to find time throughout the day to read. I find waking up earlier to read before the day starts is a good way to get in my daily reading without getting side tracked by a busy schedule.

message 30: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 7 comments I am a proud book nerd! Reading is my love & my life. It can transport me to places I could never afford to go to, could never even imagine. I carry a book with me at all times. I'll read in the grocery store line, at the bank, just about anywhere really. I read in bed, at the beach, in the bathroom. I can't go to sleep without reading a chapter or two. I learned how to read at age 4 and have never looked back!

I agree with you! I try to read about anywhere and everywhere as well.

message 32: by Campbell (new)

Campbell I used to read pretty much only for school but this year I'm trying to read 52 books in 52 weeks (which is super ambitious for me but go big or go home right?) so I've found myself reading almost every day! It's hard to find time some days but the further into my goal I get, the more I find myself reading and practically devouring books.

message 33: by Lotte (new)

Lotte Jansen I try to read every day eventough I have a very busy life at University. What I learned is to play my reading, I know that sounds silly! But I learned how I can plan my schoolwork and my reading work so I am doing both! I try to read 2 to 3 hours a day, and I know that is a lot, but I'm trying to read bigger books. That is also why I am 10 books behind my reading challenge right now :(
Within those 2-3 hours I can read 100-150 pages but with It, which I'm currently reading, I really can't get past 100 pages, since it is very difficult to read... I wish I already finished this book since it is so long and difficult, but we gotta finish it and we gotta read it!

message 34: by Alana (new)

Alana | 19 comments I have one book going at all times. If it turns out to be boring, I give myself permission to abandon it and start another, though that rarely happens because there are always so so many books on my reading wish list. I read pretty fast and try to slow down and savor the story once I find myself nearing the conclusion. Once finished, I mourn a little (epilogues help), then start the next one soon after. I prefer the old-school feel of turning the pages of a paperback over a device. I can't read at all during the work day but take a little reading break after work -- I have trained my family -- and then look forward to reading later in bed. And the occasional Sunday evening bubble bath with a book and a glass of wine: heaven!

Sadly, I have had to abandon a book or two also but I don't have to do it often either. I can understand that.

message 37: by StarMan (new)

StarMan (thestarman) I don't have TV, though I sometimes rent DVDs or watch a show on the Net. So I read books about 5 days a week, usually before bedtime. Usually I finish a book in 2 or 3 sittings, unless it's really long or I'm not very into it. Occasionally I read one straight through (insomnia!).

message 38: by E. (new)

E. | 5 comments I read nearly everyday. I don't watch TV and currently I don't follow that many TV shows online so as long as I don't get stuck on some website or have anything due for the next day at uni yes, I'm that person.. why can't I ever start earlier.. I don't have that much to do.

message 39: by Paulita (new)

Paulita (paulitamendoza) | 5 comments I try to read every night before bed. Whether it's 10 minutes to read or a whole hour. It's very relaxing. I usually take my book whenever I leave the house for the "just in case", I also like to read in the car. I don't drive so I have plenty of time to just sit back and read 😊.

message 40: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 971 comments I read every day. If it's a really good book sometimes all day. I got rid of cable tv a long time ago because it bores me. I can get lost in a book but never in tv or movies. I got hooked on books in 5th grade reading Harriet The Spy and haven't stopped since.

I got hooked on R.L. Stine and Judy Bloom. :)

message 42: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 971 comments Aly I'm sure I'm much older than you. Harriet The Spy was a new series when I read them.

message 43: by Dylan (new)

Dylan I read every day for at least 8 hours per day. I am on permanent disability, so I have the time to read a LOT. Reading is my passion. I do not watch television.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

I read about 4 books a day

message 45: by Greg (new)

Greg (lupercross) I read every day. I am retired and have lots of time on my hands.

message 46: by Nadine (new)

Nadine (httplatte) I read every day. I like to read mostly at night. I have classes on weekdays so weekends are always a blessing to me because that's where I find a lot of time to read and rest, even though my sibling annoys me at home. If the book intrigues me, I'll read that most of the time; I'd sleep past my bedtime to finish reading that chapter or more. I'm not a fan of reading more than one book at a time though because sometimes it gets my mind disoriented even though I'd like to try it, lol.

message 47: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 971 comments I read one book at a time too Nadine. I like to get lost in that world and don't think I could if I read more than one book at a time.

message 48: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee (LadyofSlytherin2010) | 23 comments I read every day. Even if it's only a few pages, I still read every day. Though right now my current read is a boring thing that I can't get into but want to because I've been wanting to read it for so long and it is just complete disappointment.

message 49: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 971 comments Ashlee lmao! I'm in the same situation. And I actually paid for this one so I'll force myself to finish it. Amazon bestseller my ....... I know better than to pick a book that way!

message 50: by Seraphine (new)

Seraphine | 2 comments I read every single day before I go to bed. One book over the course of two days. Although, something I’ve noticed is how once I start a book I tend to finish it. Many nights have been spent till the late hours when I need to wake up early for the next day :( well worth it though.
