Shelby Suderman | 2169 comments Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone wanted to do a buddy read of Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park, #1) by Michael Crichton in preparation for the latest movie coming out June 21?

I was thinking of starting on Wednesdayish, as I've got a few books I'm in the middle of that I'd like to complete first. Let me know!

Horrayyyy!!! I saw you were doing that, but I wasn't sure if it was part of a group read-a-thon or just a personal one.

You did write 8/4/18 which to you is April 8 but to us is August 4. lol. Maybe we should all stick with writing out the month to avoid confusion?

My "To Read Soon" shelf is not getting smaller. *le sigh* haha!! And I've already started a "To Read in 2019" list! I feel crazy!!! *maniacal laughter*

Mine just stays between 300-350ish always. Of course, I’ve started adding entire series when I know for sure I want to read the entire series. I used to just add the next instalment.

On my "Want to Read" shelf I have paired it down to only the first or next installment of a series and also only *one* book per author unless I own them. And my shelf is still over 11,000. lol. My "To Read Soon" is sticking around 215-220.

My biggest problem (problem?! Nah!) is that I get a lot of ARCs that expire after a certain time so I have to read those first and I'm basically constantly refreshing my ARCs. And I'm so far behind on NetGalley ARCs! I've only added ARCs that are less than 3 months old. Once I finally return my 4 library books, I'm going to take a library break, physical and Overdrive. :( lol

I rarely go for arcs. I don't usually get them anyway, as I've got so much on my tbr already that I need to get to. Every now and then I'll go through and trim it again.

I need to slow down my ARC roll. But they're so addicting. I try to only "ask" for previously read and enjoyed authors at this point.

There's a few authors where I want to read everything they've published, so that takes up plenty of space on my tbr.

You might want to read it without me Joanne. The wait lists are insane for this book! On one list I'm 112 and the other is 356!! Must be one amazing book! Maybe I will but it for vacation in a couple of months.

Joanne, I will probably be reading Jane Eyre next year around mid-January. I have my cousin's old illustrated version. It is old and very dark and Gothic looking. Will send you a pic or 2 when I re-find my book.

Visited the taleaway website. That was neat. Can't wait to see what kind of challenge you can do from that next year...

I love international reads... mini vacations for me. I have a GREAT book recommendation for you. It is called Sky Burial by Xinran. In 1994, the author met an unusual woman and learned the story of her life. Then the woman disappeared. I originally read this for the Author ABC Challenge, but I loved it! Gave it 5 stars.

I've read several books on your list that I loved.

We have several books in common and of those, I would love to buddy read the following:

1) The Exorcist (already slated for Feb) - own a copy,
2) The Silent Patient (no date set) - own a copy
3) Red Clocks (no date set) - own a copy
4) American Psycho (no date set) - need to get from library
5) Fantastic Beasts (no date set) - need to get from library or purchase
6) The Princess Saves Herself in this One (no date set) - need to get from library

What do you think?

Yes! Let's plan! We can start with the ones you own since I also own them or have them from KU. BTW, if you have KU, The Princess Saves Herself is available.

I can read The Exorcist in Feb too.

I have Red Clocks on audio so I can read that sooner than The Silent Patient which I have hardcover from BotM. You must've too. ;) I could start Red Clocks Friday Jan 18 and Silent Patient Friday Jan 25 or following Monday Jan 28. Or something like that! :)

I've been reading a lot of horror and thrillers lately and thought it might be fun to switch gears for a book or so. I just picked up Geekerella from my library and am planning on reading this soon. I am thinking of starting it Wednesday (2/6) but would be up for switching this around to anywhere between now and the weekend. Would anyone be up for joining me?

Woot! And that one is a good book!! Her retellings are usually very dark (Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan) but this is not as dark and it's really good!
