Hi all!

Here is a potential list of books I'd like to read. Let me know which ones you've already read and I'll cross them off until I end up with a list of 5.

The Sound of Waves
At Swim-Two-Birds
In Parenthesis
Thousand Cranes
The Glass Key
Vile Bodies
Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids
The Professor's House
In a Free State
Kokoro
Moon Palace
Wise Children
The Double
The Successor

----------------
The Robber Bride
Fury
Love Medicine
Quicksand
Lolita
A Void

Scott Great list. The only one that I have read is Calvino's "Baron in the Trees."

Great, I’ll delete that one then. Are there any in particular you want to read? A top 3?

There are a few that stick out more to me, but one of the reasons I joined the swap is to get outside my comfort zone & hopefully discover new writers. I will gladly read all of them.

I've not read any of them which surprises me since I've been reading the list for a while. Some good options!

Thanks! Any on Scott's list? And also go ahead and post your list and we can do the same for your list too!

Thank you! I've crossed them out. Also let me know if there are any you really don't want to read.

Uncle Tom's Cabin
North and South
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Remains of the Day
White Noise
Slaughterhouse Five
The woman in White
Therese Raquin
Rickshaw Boy

Eek, from this list I’ve read all except: White Noise and Rickshaw boy. Sorry. I would be okay reading Cuckoo’s Nest again if that helps

I'd be fine reading Rickshaw Boy, Cuckoo's Nest or White Noise.

I have Closely Watched Trains on my list. I can remove it though. I'd be fine with any other books on your list!

Jen | 1608 comments Mod
I will also remove A void from my list so we don’t potentially get more than 1 book from the same author.

So looks like so far we are all set with 4 of the lists but this depends on which ones @merelybookish has read.

message 21: by RebelReader1 (new)

RebelReader1 | 7 comments I’m willing to read any that have been mentioned so far that I haven’t read. Should we wait to pick until we hear from Margot? Are we each picking one from our list that none of us have read? Mailing order?

Yes, we should wait for Margot. I can do whatever people want for swap details like order and schedule. I could also use the randomizer to pick our order if there are no preferences.

Chinook wrote: "Are we reading our own books before we send them or after?"

I don’t know, why do you think?

message 25: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 282 comments I don’t mind doing either, though if we’re reading first, I’d need a bit more time before the first mailing to get the book read and annotated.

message 26: by RebelReader1 (new)

RebelReader1 | 7 comments I wouldn’t mind sending mine before reading it since in my other postal book group I read it first because there are 19 of us in that group. If we want to keep the March 1st timeline.

Margot (goodreadscommerelybookish) Hi Everyone! Sorry for being MIA.

I've read through your lists and so many great choices! Any ones I've read have already been eliminated by someone else.

Here's my list:
Three Lives
Claudine's House
Quartet
Nightwood
Go Tell It on the Mountain
The Once and Future King
The Optimist's Daughter
The Hour of the Star

message 28: by RebelReader1 (new)

RebelReader1 | 7 comments The only one I've read on Margot's list is Go Tell it on the Mountain. I'm open to reading any of the other's on her list.

I've read Nightwood, but it has been a long time & wouldn't mind rereading it. I've also read The Hour of the Star.

About reading order -- I'm fine with what you all want. I think either way, it would be nice for the owner of each book to write an introduction letter explaining why they picked the book they did.

message 33: by Chinook (last edited Feb 21, 2018 06:08PM) (new)

Chinook | 282 comments I suppose it doesn’t really matter - either way works almost the same.

If we are reading first, that narrows down my options since there are a few I’d have to order from amazon.

On Litsy, people are saying they want to send out first then read at the end.

Also can you send me your mailing address? I'm mailing to you :)

Hey Amanda - you're mailing to me. I sent you a note on ŷ. Let me know if you don't get it.

Chinook | 282 comments Hey guys - anyone know how to contact Jen outside of ŷ? My address has changed but I haven’t had a book from her in months and I’m not getting any response when I message her. Maybe the person who mails to her could pass me her address and I’ll try sending her a letter with my new address?
