If you were recommending this book, what would be the youngest age you would recommend this book to? Or, do you think this book is only for adults?

There is sex in this book. It's very quick and does not go into too much detail, but it may not be appropriate for young kids, especially because of the two partaking in the act (I'm trying not to give spoilers). Coraline and The graveyard book are great for kids though.

We have it cataloged in the Adult section of our library. I personally read it and I think a middle school or high school student would enjoy it. It just has some themes that might be to obscure or to mature for younger ones to understand.

Personally I think this is more of a children's book.
I can definitely see a 10-12 year old reading this. If you're familiar with Coraline it's a similar reading level

Thanks for the feedback. I am now teaching 5th grade. When I taught middle school,I would have put it into my class library. I'm not sure if it is a little too mature for 5th graders (the allusions than affair and the nudity, though never described).

Some 10-year-olds might read this book but I think most 12-13 yr olds could definitely read it. My daughter had it since she was 11 but only read it when she was nearly 13.

Thanks for the feedback. I think it will stay in my personal library.

I believe it‘s a children‘s book but when you reread it later things will appear in a different light. Ages 10+ in my opinion

I'd put in on par with early Harry Potter, however it doesn't have the humor that helps to break the tension during the scary parts. My kids loved quick scares that would then make them laugh.

Thanks for the feedback.

I enjoyed it as an adult, and it holds wonder for adults looking back on their childhood, as much as it holds wonder for children.

There are some mature themes in the book, but honestly there's nothing toxic, and anyone who's old enough to really take notice of them is old enough to handle them.

I would say, as per most of the comments above, that I wouldn't *give* this book to a person younger than about 10 or 11, and I wouldn't teach it below a grade 5 or 6 class. However, if I found it in the hands of a younger reader who picked it up by choice, I wouldn't be worried about it.

12 or 13 years old is good to read this book because there is some topic that can't be understand when you're too young, not like inappropriate but you won't understand some parts because it isn't that easy to read and understand the signification of this book.

15 because there are also some themes kids would not understand
