Hi Seren,
We're glad to see you're so passionate about these issues. Because this group is so large, we do our best to keep things organized and duplicate threads to a minimum. As such, we ask that members refrain from writing posts directly to Emma, as this group is meant to be for discussion among everyone rather than directed solely to her. Additionally, these are topics that have been discussed elsewhere on the discussion board. We encourage you to look up those conversations for insights from our members, and if you don't find what you're looking for, starting a topic to address what you feel is missing with the rest of our members.

I know it is very unlikely you will read this (much less reply) but the idea that there is some possibility you will makes writing this worth it. I’ve been a fan of yours from a very young age and you’ve always been a sort of positive female role model for me. Hermione was a character that inspired my young self to speak up for my needs and to do well in school. But the point of this is not to thank you for inspiring me to achieve all I can (although I can’t thank you enough). The point of this is to talk about the aspects of achieving gender equality. I’m a junior at Watertown High School in Massachusetts USA and my history class is doing a project based on the different sustainable development goals the UN has written up on their website. I’ve chosen to write an essay about gender equality and it would mean the world to me if I could ask you a few questions. It’s important to me that I include that this is more to me than just a school project. This is a real global issue that I’m personally really passionate about. I don’t want this just to be a homework assignment, I want to know how to make an impact. This is a movement I know inspires people, a movement that incites real positive change in the world. The questions I wanted to ask are:
1. How did you first get involved with the UN and start movements such as HeforShe and TimesUp?
2. What are someways everyday people can help to make a positive impact on the issue of gender equality?
3. In your opinion, what are the biggest issues involving gender equality worldwide right now?
4. Are there any particular approaches to this problem in the past that you think have made the biggest positive impacts?
5. Who are some of your personal favorite female heroes?
Thank you a thousand times over for all that you’ve done and continue to do,
Seren Theriault
