PG Devlim | 2 comments Mamta helped me with my Vampire's Key book, now released online.

Her feedback was not simply a critique, it enabled me to really see through the eyes of a reader. Through sharing the effect of my writing, through her thoughts and feelings, Mamta highlighted the strengths and weaknesses in my story. She told me when my writing worked really well and my descriptions were on point and also when a chapter wasn’t particularly strong or the story was less engaging.

Her feedback really encouraged me to keep going, work on any issues that had arisen and feel that I wasn’t wasting my time.

I can’t thank Mamta enough for her assistance and totally recommend her to anyone looking for a beta reader. Thankfully, (or more accurately, thanks to you Mamta) I have Mamta’s support for my next project.

Michael Kelly (mkelly53) | 7 comments If you are looking for a thoughtful and thorough beta reader, I wholly recommend Mamta. I truly enjoyed working with her. I would also recommend you include a questionnaire about what you want her to focus on that would help you improve your ms.
Here are a few reasons:

She answered every question I had.
Her critiques are always insightful and sometimes cause you to clarify your prose.
She charges a reasonable rate for her excellent services.
She points out areas of the manuscript that lagged in information and pace, character development, and scene setting.
She also lets you know chapter by chapter the things she loved and what you might want to consider working on.
She also pointed out grammatical errors, spelling errors, and missing words.

She definitely took a lot of care reading my manuscript. Even when there was nothing to correct, she’d comment on how she liked/loved what she had just read.

I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Beta reader, and I will definitely work with her again in the future.

Tayo Olajide (cheefoo) | 1 comments Oh how I love Mamta's reviews and feedback, it has spurred me on to improve on my manuscript. She deeply immersed herself in the manuscript providing ample feedback, notable quotes, lows and highs as a reader would eventually feel.
I highly recommend anyone looking for Beta Reading services to hire her. She is simply the best.

Aditya Sundararajan (adityasundar) | 15 comments I enjoyed working with Mamta as she beta-read my WIP. Her report is very professional and in-depth with ample constructive feedback. She documents her views chapter-wise to show what a reader thinks as the story progresses. She turned in her feedback at the specified time and her price is also nominal for the quality of work. I'll be taking her help for my future projects as well, and I recommend her services if you're looking for a beta-reader who "gets" your work.

She sent quite a lengthy report on my book, chapter by chapter, and I am now at the point of delving back into the story for a third edition. Mamta's professionalism shined through her helpful criticisms of my work and I found that her fresh set of eyes were very useful in my quest to becoming a better writer. Thank you, Mamta.

One can tell immediately upon receiving her input that she has invested both time and energy in everything she does and I am so appreciative of her annotations and detailed insight. I can unequivocally recommend her Beta Readings skills and service to anyone looking to improve upon their work. This is a resource that truly should be kept secret but I'm afraid the word has already gotten out, write an even better novel and book her services while you still can.

Dana Christy | 52 comments WONDERFUL experience!
Mamta was detailed, honest, helpful and professional. It was a pleasure working with her. She gave me the prospective of a reader/reviewer and made sure my plot flowed, made sense and didn't drag.
She felt every emotion I hoped a reader would feel!! Laughed where I wanted, cried with my characters pain, and felt the angst and desire for them to fix their relationship.
She answered all my questions and supported me through the process every step of the way!!
She made me MORE excited to release my novel.

LOVED.... LOVED... LOVED.... working with her!!
I absolutely Recommend her services.

message 73: by Josephine (new)

Josephine Lieder | 4 comments This was my second time working with Mamta after she beta read my 95k-word sci-fi novel in 2018. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a beta reader. I loved working with her so much the first time that I reached out to her years later to beta read the sequel at 170k words. Mamta is very thorough and honest which I incredibly appreciate. She was very attentive and always kept me updated in regards to when she was starting and finishing my manuscript. She sent me a 50-page report when she was finished which was very thorough and honest about things she loved and things she didn’t think worked, and gave suggestions about how to improve my manuscript, as well as pointed out typos and grammatical errors. Her rates are also very fair in my opinion and very worth the money! I will definitely be working with her again.

message 74: by Lois (new)

Lois | 3 comments Mamta asked useful questions, pointed out typos, and gave encouragement. She even answers questions afterwards. Absolutely worth trusting with my babies. Definitely worth the money.

message 75: by The Typed (new)

The Typed Writer (thetypedwriter) | 19 comments Hello Mamta,

I am looking for a beta reader who doesn't shy away from giving honest commentary and feedback and it looks like you come highly recommended. I would so greatly appreciate having someone like you read my book and give me critiques. Here is some information on my novel:

Genre: Young adult fantasy.

Summary:
Humans despise Fairies.
Fairies abhor humans.

These are two indubitable facts that have survived for hundreds of thousands of years.

Two very different species who are obdurately adamant of their animosity for the other, focused on their differences rather than their similarities.

This is a tale as old as time itself, a tale of prejudice, a tale of blood and regret, a tale of coming together and breaking apart, a tale of lies and deceit and hidden truths.

The only sure fact is that Fairies and Humans are true enemies, two opposing forces inhabiting the same unforgiving world, a middle world of hell, fought over by both sides, of bone and flesh.

No one can remember where the hate started-does anyone ever?

Fairies blame humans and humans blame fairies. That is the end.

Why seek the truth when you are satisfied with the lie?

But if one was to dig, if one was to cast away the illusion, sweep away the tears, forgo the fear, one might be able to find a book-for this is a tale after all, a tale as old as time-and this book speaks of the truth, of a time when humans and fairies were not enemies intent to kill, but instead something different, something better than what they have become.

This is the story of Elliot Alwyn and his belonging to both worlds. When Elliot is forced to go to Faerie, he'll lose everything, but gain what he never thought was possible.

message 78: by Drew (new)

Drew Holloway | 6 comments I hired Mamta as a beta reader for my mystery novel and she did a fantastic job. She gave me a chapter-by-chapter rundown offering me insight into every individual beat of the story and how well it all fit together.

She picked up on a bunch of issues that I was unaware and gave me good advice on how to fix them, and she also gave me a ton of encouragement and positive remarks when they were warranted.

I feel like I'm so much closer to a finished product thanks to Mamta's work and have a clear path towards completion now. I cannot recommend Mamta's service enough!

message 79: by Mark (new)

Mark Plutowski | 4 comments I hired Mamta as a beta reader for my sci-fi novella. I was very happy with the result. The report identified numerous typos and grammatical errors. It also provided a chapter-by-chapter feedback of how each important piece of exposition impacted her as a reader. The feedback was balanced between positive and negative. I would hire again.

Frank Jackson | 3 comments Mamta was an excellent Beta Reader. If you are looking for an enthusiastic, thorough, and careful reader, Mamta is perfect. The report was chapter-by-chapter. It reintroduced me to my own story as I went on the journey with her fresh eyes. Every chapter, big moment, or even area of improvement was explained with grace and with evidence, which made it easy to see the logic or take in the good. message 90: by L.M. (new)

L.M. Shayle | 10 comments I've been working on a novel for a while and I needed a fresh pair of eyes to look it over and give me honest feedback. And Mamta did just that. I could tell my story was read with care, and when I asked for blunt and constructive criticism, she said everything she felt might have needed fixing ended up making sense by the end. I liked that her feedback was cohesive and took the story as a whole, instead of being nitpicky. Her feedback, encouragement, and enthusiasm were definitely a needed boost!

message 91: by Kassie (new)

Kassie | 10 comments I really enjoyed the answers Mamta gave to me. I only asked for twelve questions to be answered versus the standard in-line comments, beta reader report etc, and was surprised when I got back twelve pages. She went into great detail and my favorite part was when it was structured like an outline, with multiple parts to her answer. It reminded me of a very detailed essay one would write in a class.
But one thing I really enjoyed is I can tell she read the book. It saddens me to say this, but I have come across several beta readers who try to pass off skimming as feedback. As someone who is notorious for skimming everything for discussion boards post in college, I can tell the difference since I unfortunately had that bad habit in school. I can tell Mamta doesn't skim and I like the professional language she used. Again, it reminded me of an essay I had to write in college but I personally liked that and found it very pleasant to read, especially since it's a writing style I have used in school. I personally also like when beta readers are "unprofessional" such as using all caps when they're angry at a character, but I also really like Mamta's style of being more essay like. It was just really nice to read and she was very honest, yet not rude or personal attacks.
If you want more of a professional read I suggest hiring her, especially since she gives detailed answered to your questions, and actually reads the book. I also liked her honesty and how she backed up her answers.

message 92: by Gail (new)

Gail McGuire | 12 comments If you are looking for an insightful, professional, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced Beta reader, I recommend Mamta Menon. I have worked with her on two books, and I wouldn't want to publish without her. The results report of her review was so rich in positive and constructive critique, it improved my manuscript a great deal. She provides feedback on her impressions as a reader chapter by chapter so that I could gauge if the plot was having the impact I intended it to. She brings literary expertise to her work, and adeptly identifies plot discrepancies, slow points in the story and exposition dumps, and character development issues. While also providing encouraging remarks where warranted. I highly recommend Mamta's services!

Caela Gemma | 24 comments Mamta provided chapter by chapter feedback and was helpful with tackling clarity, character development, world-building, and technical suggestions. I'm satisfied with her review and recommend working with her!

message 94: by Josephine (new)

Josephine Lieder | 4 comments Working with Mamta is always such a pleasure! She provided comprehensive feedback that helped me improve my first and second novel immensely, and I reached back out to her after doing a heavy revision of my second novel for updated feedback. She provides a chapter-by-chapter analysis that points out strengths and weaknesses and also a report on the manuscript as a whole. She is very fast, quick to communicate, and her prices are also very fair for the amount of work put in. The feedback provided has always shed light on areas for improvement and has gone a long way to help me tighten up and revise my manuscripts, and no doubt will this time around as well. I will be reaching out to her with future manuscripts and would highly recommend!

Allen Shap | 28 comments She recently Beta Read my literary historical fiction. I absolutely recommend her. She is thorough and her feedback was incredibly helpful.

message 96: by J D (new)

J D Sutcliffe | 6 comments Wow!
And I mean, wow!
Not just your standard little wow, but a wow that other wows strive to be.
Mamta did an incredible job reviewing my debut novel. Her comments were insightful, measured and amazingly helpful.
For good or bad, I have found that sometimes a beta read leans towards style, which of course is the tricky thing. With that said, Mamta made comments where things went off the rails, but avoided the style rabbit hole.
Her comments were constructive and her nudging to address areas of concern (okay, where my writing was complete dribble) was always focused on making the story better for the reader.
Many, many thanks.
