Thanks to one of our Paiges, our shelf for July is Literature.

Looks like there are some great books on the shelf, so pick away and let us know what your plan is!

Oh let me know how that is. It is on a bucketlist to read but not to sure. Would like to hear someones opinion on it first. It is what made my mind up with Fahrenhiet 451 and The Handmaid's Tale as I heard many good things.

Both wonderful. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1510 comments So many good books on this shelf!

I'll probably re-read The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, which I've already read 3 or 4 times I think, lol! But I had already planned on re-reading it this year, so good timing, I guess.

I'm sure many more of the books I'll be reading will prove to be shelved as literature.

CluckingBell | 327 comments Well, I have to read The Cat's Table for my IRL book club, so I'll definitely be reading that....

I'm not sure, but there is most likely something already on my list--I've read 36/50 on that first page and I don't like or read Russian Lit.

ETA Probably The Rime of the Ancient Mariner which is on there and I have the audiobook on hold at the library. Another audiobook I have on hold that's on there is Little Fires Everywhere

Got a friend mailing me The Handmaid's Tale as i am unsure. had 2 salesman say they did not like it

I liked The Handmaid's Tale and I usually can't stand anything by Atwood, but I liked it when it it was only a few years old and am not sure that I'd like it now. I hated much of her premise, though, and a few things about it, but overall I liked the Handmaid herself.

But Fahrenheit 451 has stood the test of time for me; I liked it when I read it as a teen and again when I read it about 7 or 8 years ago.

A friend just recommended Somerset Maugham's The Razor's Edge to me, so I'll start with that. But first I have to hurry up and get started on my June book. :)

Amanda (amandaes09) | 3 comments 1. Just Kids by Patti Smith

2. In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin by Eric Larson

3. The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman

4. Nicolas and Alexandra by Robert K. Massie

5.
The Family Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, and the Fall of Imperial Russia by Candice Fleming

6. Time's Convert by Deborah Harkness

message 16: by Karin (new)

Karin I have a book I'd like to use because even though it's shelved British Literature and English Literature, it is metafiction and lists a lot of literature in it. Would that be okay or does it have to be shelved just as "literature?"

I loved both, Bea. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Paige (iampaigeb) | 85 comments So making my way through Fahrenheit 451 and realized I am almost done. Strange because there is still another half of the book which is the history of it.

That said, when I read the history I am also gonna be reading Sherlock Holmes

message 21: by Paige (new)

Paige (iampaigeb) | 85 comments Reading now A Study In Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Having the help of an audiobook as well. Normally don't use Audiobooks but I find it easier to do housework right now listening to a Sherlock audiobook.

message 22: by Tyra (new)

Tyra I came across The Trial by Kafka at the library yesterday. I've been interested in reading it for quite some time so I figured this might be a good book for this month.

I love this book, Tyra. Admittedly, I love everything by Kafka. I hope you'll like it.

message 24: by Tyra (new)

Tyra That sounds great! Haven't read anything by Kafka previously, hopefully I'll like it so I can continue on reading more of his works
