***EDITS TO BEGIN ON 01/01/2021***

*Books must be read and reviewed from the first day of the month that the challenge starts to the last day of the month that the challenge ends
*Books must be 100 pages to count (using the most rated edition on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ)
To find the most rated edition:
1. Go to the books Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ page
2. Click on 'other editions' or 'all editions'
The top most edition listed will be the highest rated edition
***sometimes the second listed edition actually has the highest rating, if this is the case you must specify this in your post on the review thread.

**Books read that are under 100 pages will count toward page counts, but not category points
**Books that are DNFed can count toward pages, but not category points. A review and/or status updates is still required
*Manga and graphic novels can be read and will count for ¼ of the listed page count--they will count toward pages only
*Plays, poetry, and cookbooks will only count for 1/2 of the page points and will still count towards a category if half the pages is still over 100
*Reviews for books must be 4-5 sentences and must be your opinion of the book *NOT a rewritten synopsis*
*Five detailed status updates can be used in place of a review
*Alternate cover editions can be used

Buddy Read Rules
*Buddy reads must take place within this group to count for bonus points
*You must have a buddy for a buddy read to count
***When asking for a buddy read thread, you MUST list the name of the person you are buddy reading the book with!
*Even if your buddy does not show up for the read you still get buddy read points
*Buddy read threads only last for 14 days after the thread start date or the last comment posted (whichever is later)
*If the thread you want to use is expired (past 14 days) you must find a new buddy and ask for the thread to be reset
*You must make a minimum of four comments on a buddy read to earn points

Book of the Month (BOTM) Rules
*Suggestion threads for the next BOTM are posted about three weeks before the start of that new month - leaving suggestions open for two weeks.
*Polls are created about a week before that new month.
*BOTM winners are announced a day or two before the start of that new month.
*A member can read the BOTM from the first day of the new month until the 5th day of the month after. After the 5th day you will no longer receive your BOTM bonus points if you have not posted your comments on the thread by the end of the day.

This rule was changed to give members who start the book within the last few days of the month the time to finish and still receive BOTM bonus points!

For example:
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas wins BOTM for 1st in a Series for January 2021. I could read this book anytime from 01/01 - 02/05 and as long as I've posted my comments on the thread before the end of 02/05 then I will receive my bonus points!

Points

*Page Points:
<50 pages = .25 points
51 - 99 pages = .5 points
^^^ these books will only count for page points
100 - 149 pages = 1 point
150 - 249 pages = 2 points
250 - 349 pages = 3 points
350 - 449 pages = 4 points
450 - 549 pages = 5 points
550 - 649 pages = 6 points
650 - 749 pages = 7 points
750 - 849 pages = 8 points
850 - 949 pages = 9 points
950+ = 10 points
*Buddy read points will double the page count.
*Reading and participating in the group book of the month will triple the page count.

NEW RULE FOR CHALLENGES.
Starting January 1st, 2023.

If a challenge has a list task, we will allow a series substitution for a book on that specific list.

For example, if a task required a book to be read from the Doppelganger Books List.

You see The Likeness (Dublin Murder Squad, #2) by Tana French , #2 in the Dublin Murder Squad Series, on it but you haven't read book #1. You can read Book #1 and use it for the list task. You can also use it if you have read books 1 and 2 but haven't read #3 (and it's not on the list).

If you have any questions regarding this rule or lists tasks in general - please ask a MOD!

Also, fan-fiction does not count towards challenges.
