Here! Reading After Birth right now and it's depressing but too real to put down. And perfect for this rainy Sunday I've been granted. What about you?

I finished Pachinko a few weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about it, it was that good. I also recently finished Wuthering Heights.

Pachinko was fabulous. I listened to the audio book and the narrator's voice was so soothing.

I never finish The Goldfinch last year when I started it. And that bugs me when I put something down. So I’m starting over again. I am going to finish this time! It’s weird cuz it’s not even like it was bad, it just got slow for a bit I think.

Currently reading Mother of Black Hollywood (I HIGHLY recommend).

IMO, The Goldfinch was a waste of time. I would save your precious time for the good ones and ditch this one for good :)

Ooh damn I was worried that might be the case. The beginning is pretty strong so that’s disappointing. !!

Agreed about Goldfinch. I was never completely hooked but found the beginning interesting enough to stick it out. And it just went down hill from there. By the end I was so angry about how it turned out and even angrier that I had wasted my time. I’ve always been a bit of a compulsive book finisher, and this is the book that has given me permission to trust early impressions and abandon books I don’t like.

Was trying to read what we lose by Zinzi Clemmons, and also trying to read I almost forgot about you by Terry McMillan. Not doing so well getting into or finishing either.

On that note, I’m moving on. Thanks guys.

I have this audiobook on loan right now. So far is it worth your while?

I just finished ‘A Partial History of Lost Causes� and maaaaaan I think it wasn’t a good summer pick or something because while it had some really beautiful writing in there, I found it so dense and sleepy-making...took me forever!

I loved Goldfinch but I listened to the audio book and maybe that was better?
Right now I'm fighting myself to actually get into the Clockmaker's Daughter by Kate Morton.

I'm reading Final Draft by Riley Redgate and came across this perfect sentence explaining my feelings about my future:
She bowed under the heaviness of the hours she hadn't lived yet.

Also, in my past I had kind of scoffed whenever I read a title, on Amazon, that said something like, "Unique psychological, thriller with unexpected plot twist." Because, well, now I know that everything is not as it seems and should be on the look out, right? How self-important and full of, probably, unfounded visions of grandeur those book titles seemed to be. Now, however, I can see the merit of such declarations and am on the look out for summaries like this one:
Sweet on the Greek is red-hot, interracial romance featuring insta-lust and a guaranteed HEA - with NO cliffhanger and NO cheating. It stars a curvy, Black British heroine and a Greek, bisexual hero.

No surprises here! There's a happy ending, no cheating, and this book is not integral to a series of books I have to read to get the full picture! This is EXACTLY my cup of tea. More blurbs like this, please.

Its been a while, but I've read Everything I Never Told You, I liked it a lot. It's hard to call it an enjoyable book, but I did like reading it. I haven't read any of Roxanne Gary's books, which is too bad for me, because her writing is beautiful.

I just finished Sara Gran’s the Infinite Blacktop the 3rd installation of the Claire DeWitt series and I wish I could go back and read it for the first time. I’m about to read The Hate U Give for a book club, I’m not looking forward to that at all, tbqh. I picked it up when it first came out and swiftly put it back down. But I said I would keep an open mind because I wanted to be in this book club.

The Hate U Give might be one of those books you have to retire from rotation without finishing. I do plan to see the movie, though. It looks interesting without all the superfluous descriptors from the book.

Just started The Interrogation of Ashala Wolf and I'm shocked that no one of my "community" (aka, you guys) has it on their to read list. I'm 100 pages in and it's fabulous so far. It's a YA dystopian, three book series that's old enough that all three books are out :)
