What Are You Playing?

I'm also playing Chicken Police: Paint it Red as a silly easy game. It's a noir mystery story game that's humorous. And I've got some other games that I started and swear I will get back to one of these days like Outer Worlds and Kingdoms of Amalur. I also recently finished the demo for Forespoken and am still on the fence about it.

I still plan to get back to Kingdoms of Amalur, too! But my game save is on an old computer, and the prospect of hooking it up to transfer it is making me almost want to just start over.

I want to try Tears of the Kingdom, but my Switch broke when I rescued a cat so I`ll have to wait a little :D

I’ve been very slowly working my way through The 7th Guest VR for a couple(?) weeks now, playing mostly on weekends. I beat the original PC game back in the 90’s, but apparently I remember nothing because nothing has seemed at all familiar. I’ve been having fun with it although it's one of those games that make me inexplicably restless after a short amount of time so I don't play long. It has a slightly creepy atmosphere, but I haven’t found it to be scary. I should be at about the 50% mark once I figure out the last thing I need to do in the current room I’m working on. Most of the actual puzzles have come easily to me, but the mechanics of figuring out how to trigger those puzzles is where I’m more likely to get stumped. So far I haven’t used any of the in-game hints. Or any out-of-game hints for that matter. In the library, it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out I needed to (view spoiler) . :p
I also grabbed Eye of the Temple on sale the other day. I’d been wanting that one for a while, I don’t even know what possessed me to pick up The 7th Guest before I picked up that one. Nostalgia for something I didn’t remember? I’m not very far into it yet, but it’s so fun if you have the space for it! It’s kind of an Indiana Jones type exploration game, and it’s designed so that your movement is all physical within your play space. You never use a thumbstick (or any other controls) to move around. There are moving platforms that you step onto and they slide you back and forth or up and down, and there are rolling barrels that you step onto and then you have to stay balanced on them by walking backwards as they roll forward. It’s all designed so that you feel like you’re moving around through this enormous space but you never physically go outside of a 7 foot x 7 foot square.
I must look absolutely bonkers. At one point I was balanced on a rolling barrel, crouched down to try to avoid getting crushed by a descending ceiling, while walking backwards to try to stay balanced on the barrel. I must have looked like some sort of confused backwards-waddling duck! I’ve gotten unsteady on my feet several times when things started moving unexpectedly or when I was trying to hop from moving object to moving object very quickly. Usually you have time to be slow and careful with it, but there are a few time-sensitive areas and my heart rate definitely skyrockets in those even though there’s no penalty to death whatsoever. There was one sequence where I was in a not-so-controlled panic trying to get where I needed to go (the aforementioned backwards duck sequence), and my timing was off right near the end. A barrel rolled out from under me, and even though my feet were still on a perfectly stable floor, I started to fall over. Then I tried to catch myself against the imaginary wall and fell a few inches further to land against a real life wall. This is a game best played on carpet. Padded walls probably wouldn’t go amiss either, and if anybody sees you playing it, they might also think you need a straight jacket.

I also need to get back to Elden Ring. But that game is such an addiction. I need a solid 4 hours of play time to be satisfied.

The game is great on Pc so far. As for how it is on anything else I can't say. I believe that there is now a Mac version as well but I can't attest to this so please don't take it as gospel.

You know there's a native Mac version of BG3 right?

There is?? Well, alright then! :-)
Although, I've played Hollow Knight on my new MacBook Pro and even that makes my computer as hot as the sun.

Yep. It's fairly demanding as I understand it but it's there. All of the Larian games have Mac versions. It's really nice. You DO need an M1, preferably an M1 Pro, btw.

IIRC your right you need at least a MAC M1 and since I don't know nothing about MAC's I couldn't tell you nothing about them. I'm a PC man myself.

Hmm... that game shouldn't. It just needs an Intel CPU. Maybe check graphics settings? I play No Man's Sky on an M2 Air and it's not hot.
BTW if you have a fast, low latency internet connection, you can also use GeforceNow which lets you play on powerful PCs over the internet.

That sounds like so much fun!

I love BG1! One of my favourite games of all times.

I have a MacBook Pro with an M2, which I rationalized would be great for work and hoped would also let me game without overheating. I need to check my settings but will try BG3 on it. If that doesn't work well, I can GeForceNow. Thanks for that tip!

Make sure a) that the fans are spinning up and b) there are fan control programs that you can use to manually spin them up so they're running at high speed before the Mac heats up so you're not playing catchup.
I've not bought BG3 yet, so don't know about that personally. This Reddit thread might help

BG1 is one of my all time favourites 🤩. I'm also thinking of doing a replay soon but can't decide on which version to play. My favourite original with a fan made north tales of the sword coast (expansion to the expansion mod) , or the newer looking remake in NWN2 engine (mod) or the enhanced edition 😂🤔. Can't make up my mind. I'm gearing towards NWN2 engine remake of it 🐹. Have you played any of the above versions?

🤩Another BG1 fan! Do you prefer 1 or 2? I always preferred the 1st 🤔.

BG1 :) I like the second but not as much as the first. I don’t think I finished 2. But I have played 1 so many times. I can see this happening with BG3 too. I’m already planning what character to play next. And it will probably be an origin story.

I play the Enhanced Edition one. Also, Divinity Original Sin 2, but they were on breaks. I will continue BG1 in December.

I want to play all of them in order, and DOS2 :D To take my char and move it in all of them, like I did in Witcher.

I played BG1 in the BG2 engine using the BG1Tutu mod, and it was very good like that (plus the BG1 mods were compatible with it), but today I would probably prefer to play it in the NWN2 engine, even though it probably doesn't include the original BG1 mods, like the expanded dialogues with characters and the interparty banter, which made BG1 more enjoyable for me.

As far as I know, the only place to get it currently is on GOG.com, listed as Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete. It has 4 official story campaigns, which I thought were all good in different ways, and there are lots of additional adventure modules for it on NexusMods and Neverwinter Vault. The main difference between it and NWN1 is that you have full party control like in the BG games, and it uses the 3.5 edition of the D&D rules, and your party size can be up to 5 or 6, depending on the campaign settings.
I would also recommend using UI mods and graphical improvement mods for it.

Well, and I'm on my fourth playthrough of BG3, I know, I have a problem :P

Also playing "Dicey Dungeons" which I got in a game bundle. That one's a deck builder game with procedurally generated items and enemies, and several different character types (warrior, witch, etc.). This one will keep me occupied for a while unless I get discouraged with the higher difficulties, in which case I'll move on to the next one in the bundle. :)
Also also, playing "Mahjong Soul" off and on, on 4-player East. I've been on the lower end of the Adept ranking for a while, but am not too bothered since I'm still in the learning stage, by my reckoning.
