I listened to the audiobook of which was really a sad book and a bit all over the place, I enjoyed some parts and wasn't sure what to think of others, rated it 3 stars. I definitely do recommend listening to the audiobook if you do read it tho, Carrie has such a lively voice.

I read I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain this month! I really enjoyed it, but I do wish I'd rewatched Ben's season of the Bachelor before reading it because I didn't remember anyone from his season besides Courtney herself. I think I will rewatch it and then reread at some point!

I'm also planning to start The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo tonight, and hopefully I can finish it before the end of the month.

Edit: I finished Evelyn Hugo and LOOOOOOVED it!!

This month, I read Hollywood Babylon. I posted about it in a couple of posts and roundups, but my copy had pages torn out and words scratched out, which created quite a bit of drama and heightened sense of "ooooo, this is scandalous."

I enjoyed it. It's a big book of gossip, but I didn't appreciate some of the pics, which definitely included what looked like death pics.

Still, I had to have Chrome open so I google some of the stars names, because I had no idea who they were, and lends to a more fiction feeling when it comes to the book.

I read Experimental Film by Gemma Files, a horror mystery about a film critic/lecturer discovering the lost films made my the first female Canadian filmmaker. I adored the writing, and the film aspect was interesting - about more indie, experimental filmmaking and the study and history of film rather than Hollywood, with bits of folklore mixed in - really different, creative, really enjoyed it!!

i've been wanting to read that! I'm so glad you liked it. I should just buy it for Kindle because my library doesn't have it :(

I read Hollywood Daze and I can't decide if I liked it or not. It jumped around in places and I found myself having to reread parts to understand what was going on, but it was compelling enough to keep reading so... it was fine?

I read Beautiful Ruins. I liked the main concept but felt the plot was too convoluted with other concepts/themes/ideas. I wish the story was more about the main "couple" and that story-line more developed. This was fun but ultimately, felt like something big was missing.

I finally read a book for this month! Honestly this was probably the most difficult to find a title that appealed to me because I ended up DNFing my original pick, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I just found the writing style really grating, it reminded me of fanfiction.

I ended up picking up Lucy Parker's latest romance, Making Up, part of her London Celebrities series. It was pretty mediocre to be honest.

I forgot to update the thread, but recently I finished a horror novel called THE BLACK ALBUM: A Hollywood Horror Story and it was just alright.

After waiting for my library hold forever, I finally got and finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I loved it. It's not a book I would have picked up normally, but it ended up being one of the few books I five-starred all year.
