INTRODUCING: Our group, ourselves and our members!

I'm from Ecuador, though I'm currently living in Argentina because of college (My first language is spanish, so please excuse me if there's any mistake in my writing). I study literature and I have to read A LOT (I really enjoy it, but it takes pretty much every single hour of my day so I haven't read too much popular stuff lately. Only, you know, the Iliad-kind-of-thing). (Not complaining, tho)
I enjoy every genre, but fantasy is definitely my favorite. I don't really care if it's MG, YA, or anything as long as it's fantasy. I also love with all my heart history novels, and especially the ones settled in Ancient Greece or Rome. And poetry. Poetry is amazing.
My favorite authors are Madeline Miller and Charles Baudelaire. My favorite book is the Iliad, because I'm such a nerd. I'm obsessed with greek myths, Harry Potter, Disney movies (I know the whole dialogues from The lion king by heart), and astronomy (well, not really, it's just stargazing, but shh).
I'm an aspiring writer. I have been writing this fantasy novel since I were 16, I hope I'll finish it next year (finally). As a writer, It's important to me to help people who's feeling alone and misunderstood, so I try to use diverse characters and I try to do it right (that's why it's taking me so long). I'm kind of obsessed with ace characters because THEY ALMOST DON'T EXIST and I just want to tell people like me it's okay to be who they are.
So, yeah, feel free to message if you want. I'm very active here and in twitter (( )). Nice to meet you all!

I'm Deborah, and I loveeee fantasy and sci-fi books, although I read a little of everything. I feel like I have favorite books more than I do favorite authors, but Brandon Mull, Amie Kaufman, and CS Lewis are ones I totally enjoy.
Other than reading, I love baking, geocaching, hiking, castles, and scribbling in my bullet journal. I'm also in the final stretch of getting my English/Literature degree with a minor in Medieval and Early Modern studies! (It's been a ton of work but I love what I do :) ) In between studying I work at a library and it's the best job I've ever had, including working at a bookstore (I know, BLASPHEMY! ;) ) And yes, I have a dog named Guinivere!! She's my favorite furry pal.
Ahhh, again, I'm so excited to be a part of this group! Can't wait to get into my TBR with you all!

Some of my favorite authors are Kiera Cass, Alice Walker, Paulo Coelho, and Armistead Maupin.
I have 5 pets total. 3 cats (Cinnamon, Fennel and Grey) and 2 dogs (Gracie and Pepper). Anything else you want to know feel free to ask! I am an open book :) Look forward to getting to know each of you through this group, looks like a lot of people here so far!

I read ANY genre!! I love anything from non-fiction, history, to fantasies and thrillers. Love them all.
No favorite author. I know it’s crazy.. but books are all so different and I’ve got so many I love.. I can’t really narrow it down to even top 10! The thought of trying gives me anxiety!
My hobbies consist of reading of course. Reviewing what I read on Facebook and Instagram. (Bookbumming)
Cooking, dancing, gardening, taking care of my home. Right now we are painting my kitchen. The theme is psychedelic tea party and my sis in law is doing a sick mural on my wall! She’s an artist who studied in France. 💕
I’ve got some college under my belt. But I decided that I wasn’t getting enough out of that experience for me to continue to pay for it with my time and money.
I’m a homemaker. I take care of my husband and our almost two year old daughter. Hoping to add another baby to the family soon. 🥰
We have a 13 year old black lab. We rescued her! She was going to be put down because she was apparently “too old for the pound and her owner was going to a nursing home that didn’t allow animals. We had to save her and bring her home!!
Super stoked to be included in this group. Any opportunity to talk about books is a good time for me! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading!! Cheers!!

My name is Elisa, I’m a bookworm, passionate traveler and long-time expat currently living in Zurich, Switzerland, with my husband and two daughters.
I have always read a variety of genres but some very stressful events in my life in the past two years have driven me to reading almost exclusively fantasy (and some science fiction). I am now starting to branch out again but I’m a mood reader and struggling still including old favorite genres like historical fiction and non-fiction.
Forcing myself to read books I am not in the mood for tends to trigger a book slump, so I’m trying to keep around a variety of books for whenever the mood might strike, but still reading what feels right at the time.
Let’s see... my favorite authors are Jay Kristoff and Laini Taylor, but nothing awakens my fangirl like the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo especially the Darkling 🖤😊

I’m Trish. I’m a 24 yr old illustrator and graphic designer. I have a fondness for fantasy, mystery, and history.

What genres do you prefer reading? - I love mysteries, historical fiction, YA, and horror, but I read broadly.
Do you have a favorite author? - If I had to choose, it would probably be Agatha Christie, though I also like Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, and Marissa Meyer.
What are your hobbies? - Aside from reading, I like to write, watch movies, do yoga, and swim (even though I don't get as much opportunity as I would want).
Do you go to school? Work? - I study psychology in university and I shelve books in a library for work.
Do you have any pets? - I have cats, who are assholes but I love them.

Couldn't not check it out and I'm completely in love with those tattoos because of course THAT is what catches my eye on a Bookstagram..

My goodness, so many new people! Took me a while to read everything but WELCOME TO ALL! 💕
Amazing to see how many friends ended up joining. Love it!
So many of you have fur babies - got me a little bit jealous there but I'll get my own fur baby eventually. First the real baby though, haha! :D
I'm still baffled with all the activity on this group.. Barely a couple of days old and.. so.. many.. people.. Feel like tearing up right now. Gah. 💕

The genres I prefer are mostly Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Thriller/Mysteries. But I also do like to read historical fiction and contemporary novels.
My favourite authors are: Sarah J.Maas, Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, James Patterson, Mary Higgins Clark, Becky Albertalli and there are many many more. xD
My hobbies next to reading are blogging, horseback riding, training with my dog (we recently started with agility) and of course procrastinating aka sleeping.
Like I mentioned above I'm an economics/management student and I'm currently enrolled in the 3rd semester of the Bachelor so 3 more semesters to go until I have that degree. And I'm enrolled at the University of Luxembourg. Before these studies, I tried to do Communication studies in Brussels but I completely failed ^^' And I'm having a border collie-Labrador called Benji who is 3 years old. I still can't believe that I have my puppy since December 2015. I can still remember when he was only a few weeks old when we got him. He was such a cutie and is still now!

My name is Johaly but people call me Jo. I’m 28 years old. I was born in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and raised in Connecticut.
My favorite genre has always psychological thrillers but lately I’ve been trying to test the rest of the waters and really dig in to new ones. I’ve been reading a lot more YA and taking my shot at more fantasy.
My favorite authors are: Jack Ketchum, Mark Edwards, JK Rowling and Ayana Mathis. I have feeling that I’ll be meeting my newest favorite author very soon though. My spidey senses are tingling.
Hobbies: other than reading whenever possible, I just picked up bullet journaling. I go through drawing and panting sprees from time to time. I love to travel whenever I can scrape up enough change. And I am obsessed with watching horror movies.
I recently graduated with an early childhood degree. I’ve been working retail for quite some time. Neither was enjoyable for me so I have geared my efforts into changing my career pace to something else altogether.
And finally, I have a cat named Solo (the love of my life); my boyfriend and I have a bearded dragon named Yoda, and I am stepmom to two chihuahuas (Rocko & Khloe) and pitbull (Jax). It’s a zoo, I know.

Me: I'm definitely not joining any more groups, I can't keep up with all the challenges.
Also me: Oh look! A group that's all about challenges!!
*facepalm*
Anyhoo.
I'm an Aussie, my life is books and Arakan Martial Art and work gets in the way a lot but I manage.
Fave authors: Alexandre Dumas (obsessed with The Three Musketeers), Matthew Reilly, Stephen King, Lynette Noni, Sarah J Maas, Kylie Chan
Love classics, crime/suspense, horror, fantasy and my guilty pleasure is YA books I can read in a day (or two, if I have other stuff on). I pretty much read everything except explicit romance.
I'm also a bit of a Francophile so any books set in France or with French characters or references etc I am so down to read, so please feel free to recommend!
Will be lovely to meet some new people and get even more inspiration for books to add to my out-of-control TBR! :)

Firstly, thank you very much for inviting me to this group ;)
My name is Alison (my username :P) - 18 - Gemini
I'm originally from Monaco but am now studying at uni in London.
My favourite genres: Fantasy, Paranormal, YA & sometimes some Sci-Fi & Romance.
Favorite authors:V.E Schwab/Victoria Schwab, Laini Taylor, Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu & Sarah J. Maas.
Some of my hobbies are reading, watching Netflix & running ;)
Am currently at uni in London, studying law.
Have 2 dogs & 10 cats (yes, it's a lot, I know, though they're not with me year-round)
Would love to get some recommendations & am always up for a BR ;)

I'm Sionna (Think Fiona, but with a C sound instead of Fi). I am a new Youth Services Librarian and loving it! Love working with youth and love giving them the information they need when they need it. And of course, recommending books ^_^
My favorite genres are fantasy and romance and I have huge love for YA. Mystery is also a big fave when I'm in the mood for it. Some of my favorite authors are Leigh Bardugo, Ilona Andrews, and Penny Reid.
Besides work I don't do much except hang with my fiance and my dog, Lizzy -- I tend to be a homebody, so I get A LOT of reading done... just never the reading I intend to do which makes me TBR grow and grow.
I'm trying to keep it under 700 with my goal being 650, but as of right now that seems like a pipe dream haha.

My favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi, but I've been trying to read more romance this year. (Spoiler: It's been GREAT! ) Some of my favorite authors are V.E. Schwab/Victoria Schwab, Leigh Bardugo, Katherine Arden, and Laini Taylor.

I’m Paige, I’m from Chicago.
I mainly read Horror, Mystery/Thrillers and YA.
it’s hard for me to choose Favorite Authors, honestly! Joe Hill is one, I’ve read all of Jennifer Hillier’s books as well.
I’ve never gotten into Romances, but maybe I would try one, maybe. They’re not bloody enough. Now I’m rambling.
I have a Masters in Psych, a real estate license and I’m getting my PA license. However, I do find time to read.
My TBR is GIANT because, I use GR as an organizational list and a social media at the same time. Eye roll, I know.
Anyway, hi.

I'm open to trying anything YA, but fantasy and historical fiction are my favorite genres. I've also really gotten into Gothic lit after having taken a class on that genre. Some of my favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, Marissa Meyer, Marie Lu, Ruta Sepetys, and Jane Austen.
Other than reading, I enjoy writing, watching movies, listening to music, buying a lot of candles, and keeping up with current affairs/politics. I do not have any pets, as I am allergic to almost anything with fur. :(
I'm looking forward to meeting and reading with all of you!

I adore fantasy, it's my favourite genre, but I try to read a little bit of everything...except for thrillers. I haven't read a single thriller in my entire life but I'd like to try one sometime. I also love movies and tv shows a lot. My favourite authors are V. E. Schwab, Leigh Bardugo, Cassandra Clare and Kerri Maniscalco.
I'm still in school, so I'm really intimidated by challenges. Besides reading, I love computer programming and video games. I have a 4 months old black kitty named Shuri. I had her for like a month or so, but my life has changed since I adopted her! She always makes me smile and she's really loving.
Thank you for the invite and I can't wait to read with all of you!

My name is Kamisha and I'm 29, living in a small town in rural North Carolina, I'm originally from the mountains of NC but moved down here for work and school. I have a degree in Zoo and Aquarium Science and a degree in Anthropology with a focus on Primatology, and I'm a zookeeper working with gorillas and hamadryas baboons! Most days it's a fulfilling job but it can also be very tiring!
I've been a voracious reader from the very beginning of my life and that's never changed! I primarily read YA fantasy, adult fantasy, horror and literary fiction, but I honestly will read anything if the description appeals to me! I love reading diverse books with diverse characters and books that explore different cultures, whether they are made up or real! I'm also really into conservation science so I read science books as well. Some of my favorite authors include: Leigh Bardugo, Victoria Schwab, Holly Black (FAE QUEEN!), Jay Kristoff, Neil Gaiman, Charles de Lint, Nnedi Okorafor, and N.K. Jemisin. The surest way to get me to pick up a book is to use Fae in the description, I'm not even ashamed. Haha.
I've been lurking on lovely book blogs (like Destiny's!) for the past year or so and am really trying to gear myself up to start my own blog or BookTube account next year! It's hard for me to find anyone in my personal life who enjoys reading as much as I do, so I think it would be a great outlet for me! I struggle with anxiety and severe depression, and reading is one of the things that I can rely on to help me with my mental health. I'm a pretty big introvert (definite INTJ here) and I'm totally fine with that, but sometimes it means I don't get online that often! Occasionally I lurk on Twitter and you can find me there @mishreads.
When I'm not reading or working with animals, I'm spending time with my partner and our lovable, crazy dogs (we have two, an Australian cattle dog and a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Pit mix). I love embroidery and cross-stitching, listening to podcasts, and consuming all the horror movies I can find!
Thank you guys for creating this lovely group and I can't wait to participate!

I'm Olga. I'm 29, read just about everything, and have three gorgeous doggies. I also have three gorgeous stepsons. Given that the kids are all teenagers, the dogs are MUCH sweeter.
I work in investment operations. I crochet blankets for my local animal shelters out of scrap yarn...so if anyone has remnants they want to get rid of, hit me up!! I also collect cookbooks and love being in the kitchen. Goal for next year: acquire a Batman apron.

This is so awesome! Thank you for inviting me Destiny :D
I'm Loretta Almost 29 Sagittarius INFP Hufflepuff
Fav authors: So many!! But I love J.K. Rowling, Cassandra Clare, Maggie Stiefvater, and Sarah J. Maas
Fav genres: FANTASY! Mostly I read YA books, but I stray to the adult stuff sometimes too. I read literally anything. The only genres I gravitate away from are mystery and horror, but not all the time.

Originally I'm from Chicago, but I went to college is Georgia and then never left. Now I'm a graphic designer at a newspaper and obsessed with listening to audiobooks at work. I have three fur babies, all dogs. A yellow lab named Poppi, a terrier named Trixie, and a golden retriever named Mr. Rogers (Fred for short). I'm obsessed with 80's classic rock and have an album collection that I love. I'm also obsessed with Mystery Science Theater, Doctor Who, and any other nerd thing you can think of 😂 I wear my nerd badge with pride though!
I can't wait to get to know everyone and kick some TBR butt!!

I usually read: fantasy, ya, and middle grade, sometimes i read epic fantasy, high fantasy, and science fiction
I love to draw (i'm terrible btw) but art is briniging things to life, so i like it. I like to watch films, animated, mostly. And i like to read, obvious. Sometimes i write, but nothing serious.
I don't know what i'm doing with my life, but at least i have a good time, maybe not.
I also have a cat named biscuit, and three years ago i had a cat named betty.
Nice to meet you all

My TBR is seriously out of control so this will be amazing!
I love reading YA fantasy, sci-fi, urban-fantasy, and anything with good diverse rep. I have a weakness for adorable webcomics, and I'm trying to get more into comics as a genre but so far it's slow-going.
Aside from reading, I like going for walks (we have an awesome park near where I live and its full of baby sheep and cows), getting too obsessed with TV shows, and I'm also studying to become a qualified librarian.
So nice to meet everyone and I can't wait to tackle these challenges together!

My name is Dana, I'm 22 and live in Romania.
I love fantasy, mystery & thriller aaand middle grade's books. And, of course, Young Adult.
I love J.K. Rowling, Richelle Mead, Stephanie Meyer and Sara Shepard (and others, but these are my top favourites).
Besides reading, I love taking photos! I blog, make lists and like cooking (although I have many recipes to learn).
I'm in the last year (III) of college and I'm scared of my last exam.
I had worked in three different places, but the last one was the best.
I had 3 parrots: the first one died in my face, and the others two have been sent by my mother to another family. I still miss my little yellow girl.
Destiny, thank you so much for inviting me on this group! I really like your blog and your reviews. >:D<

I'm Justine. I'm 27 and a psych major, who works in the IR for my school library. I blog and am on Instagram, but I've been on hiatus since I moved closer to school. I really want to focus on my existing TBR next year, so this group is perfect.
I read a little bit of everything. I do prefer books with POC probably because I'm a WOC, and it's cool to see myself in literature these days. I LOVE N.K. Jemisin and have a soft spot for Brandon Sanderson since my brother and I bond over his books a lot. Hobbies right now besides reading are sleeping and playing FFXIV online ^^, and I have an adorable almost 3-years-old pitbull rescue named Cajun!
Again, thanks for the invite and I can't wait for the challenges (and Destiny's January readathon lol)

I'm Scrill (Priscilla) from Vicariously & Voraciously hailing from Washington State. I really like reading YA fantasy & sci-fi as well as YA contemporary. As far as my favorite author, right now I have been loving Jay Kristoff. I work as an x-ray tech by day full time, and part time at my friends fancy taqueria (think chef made street tacos). When I am not reading I like adventuring around the PNW (usually eating my way through Seattle or Portland or hiking in the surrounding areas), in the summer I also like to work in my massive family garden growing my own food, and I like to study foreign languages. I have no kids, but I have one 13yo yorkie named Trogdor the Burninator. Nice to meet you all!

My favorite genre is YA; mainly SFF. But I love the idea of non-romance NA, though not too many exist. I was an English Major in college so I love classic literature as well.
Leigh Bardugo and V. E. Schwab are always at the top of my favorites list, alongside Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. Stephanie Garber is fantastic. Gwen Cole has some amazing prose. Ummm I could go on for a while.
Obviously reading is a hobby. And I write. I love to cook, not bake because I'm a terrible baker.
Like I said, I'm hoping to get into graduate school for Fall 2019 for creative writing. My sister and I own an Etsy shop and just launched our website which is exciting and terrifying. But I love working with her.
PETS! I love my kittens. I have two new addition (under 2 years old) Meira (from Snow Like Ashes) who is 2, and Tiberius/Ty (Captain Kirk) who is just 1. I also have a 16 year old Maine Coon Tom.
I'm so happy to meet you all! I can't wait to start whittling down my TBR with you. <3
xoxo, Camille

My favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi (YA & adult), YA Contemporaries and romance. I also like mystery and horror, but I don't read them as much.
I spend my time blogging, reading or studying. I studied anthropology and political science and I'm currently living in Spain while I get my master's degree in rural development.
I'm really glad to be joining this group since my tbr is out of control. I can't wait for the challenges!

Hello everyone! I'm Whitney. I am 30 (31 on the 29th of this month) and live in Tennessee with my husband and two tiny fur babies! We are also in the process of adopting from China!
What genres do you prefer reading?
- I generally reach for historical fiction, contemporary fiction, YA, Christian fiction, and contemporary romance. But I'm pretty open to anything
Do you have a favorite author?
- My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Deborah Harkness, Tamara Alexander, Jenny Colgan, Sherryl Jordan, Cassandra Clare...
What are your hobbies?
- Obviously reading, hiking, watching tons of YouTube videos, playing The Sims 4, watching my husband play video games, hosting tea parties
Do you go to school? Work?
- I currently work in a flower shop. I mostly make deliveries (which allows me tons of time to listen to audiobooks!), but I'm also learning how to make the floral arrangements. I have a degree in Music, and also have a wedding singing business on the side!
Do you have any pets?
- I have two precious fur babies: Chimi (a Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix) and Shea (a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix)

My name is Sarah; I am a book blogger over at Traveling Across Pages! I haven't been as active as I would like to be (thank you, college)! But I'm hoping to be more active in the new year.
I love fantasy/sci-fi books. Throne of Glass, The Night Circus, and Children of Blood and Bone are my top three favorites! I'm not big into contemporary books, but I'm always open to suggestions.
I an a junior in college double majoring in chemistry and forensic chemistry. When I'm not studying or reading, you can catch me playing video games, bullet journaling, painting, or working as a math tutor and resident assistant! I'm looking forward to making some new friends on here and getting to know you!

My name is Ritta, I'm 21 and I'm from Portugal. I don't have a blog or anything, I'm just here on ŷ but, like all of you, I love books. Reading has been my solace ever since I was a little girl.
I read mostly backlist books since they're cheaper and easier for me to find in English but my TBR keeps growing anyway, so this group might help with that. Besides, I read mostly YA, but i also read adult, especially adult fantasy - I tend to prefer them to YA fantasy, but it's not a rule. In fact, I like to read books a little out of my comfort zone now and then to see if I like them - I could find a new favourite, who knows!
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and cheering you on as you conquer your TBR piles!

Find me: |
What genres do you prefer reading? I read mostly YA, but this year I've started branching back out into adult, though really just for thrillers. I also love middle grade, especially Rick Riordan.
Do you have a favorite author? Maggie Stiefvater and Victoria Schwab are tied for first as my favorite author(s). I love everything I've read by both of them, which is quite a bit.
What are your hobbies? Reading, sleeping, book-shopping

Do you have any pets? Yes, we have 8 poodles (one Standard and seven little ones): Teeja, Lincoln, Parker, Remi, Willie, Odin, Mila, and Jack! My dad works with a poodle rescue in our state and most of the time when we foster them we end up failing/adopting! lol
Any other questions just ask, and feel free to add me as a friend! I'm excited to hopefully cut down on my TBR and get it to a much more manageable number in 2019.

I mainly read YA, and mostly fantasy though I do enjoy contemporaries too. My favourite authors are Sarah J Mass, Leigh Bardugo, Kiersten White and Genevieve Cogman (among many others).
My hobbies include writing/spoken word, blogging and doing several things around my church. I'm not doing anything education-wise at the moment, but am hoping to start a Masters degree next September in creating writing so we'll see. :) And I have a rabbit called Alfie.

My TBR has evolved into a sentient lifeform that glares disapprovingly from the corner.
My favorite genres are Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Classics. I read a lot of YA but enjoy Adult fiction as well.
My all-time favorite authors are Tamora Pierce, Diane Duane, SJMaas, Leigh Bardugo, and Tolkien. <3
Aside from reading (which honestly takes up most of my time sorrynotsorry), I love to crochet and gush over my cat. And acquire more books....
I've already graduated with my bachelor's in math and I work at a college now. My commute is long so I have time for audiobooks!
I have one cat, Pookie, who is an orange sweetie and loves to cuddle when I'm reading.
Thank you Destiny for inviting me! <3

I'm Charlotte, I like lots of different genres, but invariably end up reading crime/ thriller, historical fiction, or fantasy.
My favourite author is Karol Capek. If you liked [read: wept copiously over] "Animal Farm", then you'll probably enjoy his "War with the Newts".
I love love *love* learning languages, what I lack in skill, I make up for in enthusiasm. If you have any recommendations of books written in French, Spanish, Provencal, or Catalan then please tell me! I also adore circus skills, and am determined to nail the 5-hoop split in 2019.
I just graduated, and work as a freelance translator. Am saving so I can go back into studying. (I want a degree in Russian).
I have a cat called Rooney. He currently has an ear infection and keeps wobbling over.

I'm Taasia, and I'm a teen Malaysian-Chinese blogger residing in Singapore! My favourite genre is contemporary (especially YA contemporary), and I mostly read YA, but I do read the occasional adult or middle grade. My favourite authors are Becky Albertalli, Angie Thomas, Cassandra Clare, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Kevin Kwan, Marissa Meyer and Gloria Chao!
Outside reading and blogging, you can normally find me watching TV, bullet journaling, watching Youtube, out with friends or practicing my hand lettering! I'm currently mid-way through my second year of high school and preparing for exams (torture in its purest form). I actually don't have any pets, and I don't think I could handle them.
Please feel free to add me as a friend on ŷ! I would love to interact with more people and just chat about books in general. Best of luck to everybody on their TBRs!
