Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments This thread is to discuss George R.R. Martin book, A Game of Thrones, the 1st book in A Song of Fire and Ice Series.

Pages: 848 pages

Length: 1 month

Participants: Brittany, Cassie, Consuelo, Dianne, Kadijah Michelle, Scott

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) What a great book! I'm excited for those of you who get to read it for the first time. WARNING: It's addicting, and unfortunately the author has no firm timeline on finishing the series.

Consuelo | 190 comments I want to participe in this buddy read.

Cassie | 370 comments I would like to join this Buddy Read! My boyfriend has been nagging me to read the books (he is currently reading the second one) :)

Dianne Mck. (diannemck) | 58 comments I have read the series and am ready to do it again! I started the newest one Fire and Blood but think I'll stop and join this buddy read. I'm so excited for everyone who hasn't read them yet. If you watch the show, it will be easier for you to keep track of everyone. The first time I saw Season 1, I had to go through it again and then read all the books. There are so many people and places to keep track of. BEWARE: You will become addicted.

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Consuelo, Cassie, and Dianne, we are very happy you join us.

I was wondering if we could schedule the rest of the series. These books are large, but I can still do 1 a month. I will listen to them on Audible (they come highly recommended that way).

How do you all feel?

Consuelo | 190 comments Sincerely, usually I prefer to schedule long books for two months because I have more time to organize the books I want to read. However, I understand that with the new book of this series, people want to read them as soon as possible. So, I can adapt me to the general opinion.

Scott Flicker | 1191 comments This book is so good. I finished it for Least the third time and still enjoyed every bit of it. The book is long but doesn’t feel like it contains any filler. I also like the fact Martin doesn’t use unpronounceable names for his characters. I started reading the world of ice and fire companion book and hope to finish it before we start on the next regular book in the series.

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Ok, I know I keep flip-flopping, but is it alright if we extend this book till the end of February? Then we can read the rest of the books every 2 months?

There is another group that wants to start reading this in January, and to be honest, I'm not going to have time to start reading it until then.

Scott Flicker | 1191 comments 2 months for each is fine with me

Julia Lawrence (juliettal) | 172 comments Oh, if you extend reading, I’d love to join it.

message 12: by Kate (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kate I'm in if it's extended to two months. I know I can't finish them in a month :)

Brittany Morrison | 421 comments I’m okay with extending into next month. I’m only about 9 chapters in so far.

Aisha (xaisha) | 14 comments I wanna join as well! I’m so excited for the next season 🤩🤩

Carmen Schirling | 3 comments Just bought all published books for only 10. Would love to join this Buddy Read!

message 16: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Yay! So, to include everyone, we will read this book till the end of February, and then the others every two months.

I know, I am way behind because I'm studying for finals.

message 17: by Consuelo (last edited Dec 23, 2018 09:03AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Consuelo | 190 comments I am about half of the book. It's my second time reading this book and I have seen the TV series. I am very enjoying the story even if I know what is going to happen. This is a clear example of a very good book that you can enjoy every time you decide to read it.
