The Wall in the Middle of the Book by Jon Agee

message 16: by Susan (new)

Susan Schiller | 42 comments Me too! I want to add the Wall in the Middle of the Book by Jon Agee to my list.

message 17: by Margaret Boling (new)

Margaret Boling | 18 comments I have about 20 books in my “I hope they get a mention pile, but I’m not with my list or pile right now.

Absolute top choice: Dreamers by Morales

Outside shit, not talked about at all: The Field about a muddy soccer game on St. Lucia. Bilingual in Creole and English. Can’t remember the author, but the illustrator appears to live in the US.

Also, what about The Patchwork Bike? It originally came out in 2016 in Australia, but Candlewick released it here in the US in 2018. Again, I think the illustrator lives in the US.

Thanks so much for this group - keeping us up on releases throughout the year.

~Margaret

The Patchwork Bike is not eligible. It is a great book.

message 20: by Margaret Boling (new)

Margaret Boling | 18 comments Laura, just for reference, can you tell me why Patchwork Bike isn't eligible...Is it because it was originally released in 2016. Shucks.

message 21: by Margaret Boling (new)

Margaret Boling | 18 comments I'm still reading. I'd like to add
The Stuff of Stars by Marion Dane Bauer and illustrated by Ekua Holmes

and

What if... by Samantha Berger and illustrated by Mike Curato.

Yes. The criteria for the Caldecott states that books first published in previous years in other countries are not eligible.
