'That Book You Should Have Read Ages Ago' - 2014

I'm planing on finally getting round to reading Wuthering Heights. I've started it multiple times and have never finished it.

I'll have a look when I get home and see what I can read this week that I have been putting aside for ever. Hopefully a short book!!
Ah, Jane Eyre is wonderful!
Melissa, if you need help picking, you could post your list of possibilities and we could help you pick one? :)

I'm going with My Ántonia by Willa Cather because 1) I've have it on my tbr for ages and 2) I planned to read it his summer and still haven't gotten to it!!

So how is it going, Karen?"
I had gotten to the 28% mark over the last couple months. For some reason it hasn't grabbed me yet. However, I shall resume listening while at physiotherapy in the morning and see if I can read it through over the weekend. It doesn't seem to be terribly long.

Have you decided yet, Melissa?"

You can vote now! :)
I've listened to the audio production (excellent) of Windmere and seen the movie adaption (called A Good Woman with Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johansen). You can't go wrong with Oscar Wilde!
The Importance of Being Earnest is a great play, and Oscar Wilde is a great writer. I've never got round to Lady Windermere's Fan, so let me know how it goes :)
Unfortunately, I only feel a sense of accomplishment when I've done something unpleasant. :{
Reading My Antonia was pure pleasure. :)

That is very true. I'm expecting to struggle through Wuthering Heights, but I know I'll feel accomplished when I finish it.
For me, the first half of Wuthering went pretty well, but the second half was a chore. (Of course, the first half has all the romance.) I might have done better with it if others had been honest about Heathcliff. Their's is a "Great Love," but I wouldn't have be friends with either of them for money. :)

Question -- Are we to finish this challenge by the end of Aug. or Sept.? I still have a few mysteries to go and dawdling.
Yep, it was originally a really short challenge, but due to the amount of people interested, I decided to lengthen it!

Due to the recent rave about O Pioneers!, and it's reasonably short length, I've added it to my Kindle. You guys are definitely a bad influence!

Has anyone read These Is My Words? if so how does it compared to O Pioneers! ?
Both Kindle and iBooks offer free versions of the older classics. Don't know if they originated with Gutenberg Project, but they're definitely Public Domain. :)
I found a .mobi file of it online, so downloaded that, no payment involved!
And you guys keep on making my TBR list bigger :P

I decided to join this mini challenge with A Thousand Splendid Suns, I have not read anything from Khaled Hosseini, I hope to finish it in time.
I loved Thousand Splendid Suns! The only book I've read by the author, but it was outstanding. The gorgeous, musical flow of his writing coupled with exotic, heart-rending Afghanistan.
Okay. Secret sharing. I totally crushed on a guy because he gave that book to me, knowing I would love it. ;)

My husband gave me £100 worth of books for my last birthday, it was the cutest thing ever (and quite expensive!!). He even went to the second hand shop to find nice old editions as he knows I love vintage books. His encouragement for me having to work more hours at work was more hours = more money = more books.
Definitely a keeper!! I have a total crush on him ;-)
