I like well-told literature which refuses to be categorised into a genre, otherwise I find science fiction the most stimulating as it delivers vivid imagination and problem solving without relying on the easy catch-all solution of magic. If an author displays an excellent use of language, to be honest I wouldn't care what genre or subject they were writing on as it would do enough to light up my mind anyway. I'd read some authors' shopping lists.
