Sherri | 12 comments I need recommendations for my 16 year old son. He likes the sci-fi/fantasy genre but it needs to have lots of battles and fast action. I'm thinking some Raymond Feist?
Thank you,
Sherri

Johanna Ross Has he read R. A. Salvatore? Try starting with The Crystal Shard. They are probably not the greatest fantasy books out there, but they are fun and full of action.

Anne Kane (annekane) | 4 comments I'd second this suggestion. My grandson devoured everything by R.A. Salvatore when he was a teenager, and still talks about them.

Sherri | 12 comments Thank you, I will definitely look into R.A. Salvatore.

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 5 comments Are you looking for paper or eBooks? Some titles aren't available in both.

Paper or hard cover

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 5 comments That limits me. Most of the paper books I'm familiar with that might appeal to him are out of print.

Good luck!

Sherri | 12 comments Also, they have to be books that have not been made into movies.

Ah, but one's favorite used bookstores, and at times Amazon or Barnes and Noble websites can be sources for obscure S-F, I can so attest. And don't forget the Library!

As for books to get a young person started, I'd recommend the "Myth Adventures" series by Robert Lynn Asprin. Quirky characters, fantasy adventures, and almost a laugh every page. Quick reads, much fun. Also the works of Andre Norton, aimed at younger readers.
