This is a new thread to post Kindle deals, because the previous thread has become corrupted in some way and members can't mark it as read. According to the feedback group, this is probably because it is so long - so the same thing may happen with some of our other threads in future.

Thanks, Elizabeth - starting a new thread seemed to be the only workaround suggested at the moment! I'm getting fed up with re-marking that thread as read several times a day, and others have been getting the same problem.

Being honest, I never even noticed there was a problem, but a new thread is a good idea.

Thanks Susan! I think the bug is more noticeable if you use GR on your phone a lot, as I do ... it's not a major thing but does get a bit annoying. Anyway, if it isn't solved by the end of the month or so, I will delete the old deals thread, once all the deals you and others have kindly posted have expired.

I'm also going to go through and shut down any threads which have more than 2,000 posts, and start up new replacement threads, because apparently very long threads are the ones most likely to develop this bug!

PS the only other very long thread was "What mysteries are you reading at the moment?", so I've made a new thread for that too.

Feedback saying it was because it was a long thread was probably just conjecture and probably wrong. There was a temporary bug where all threads in all groups failed to clear the red "new". It was mostly cleared up, but threads that people had accessed in that brief time continued to have the problem.

Yes there is a member in the Moderators Group having trouble with a very old thread in that group that only has about 18 posts.

The problem with this site is that some bugs only affect a relatively small number of people. Understandably fixing them is prioritised lower, but it is frustrating having an unfixed bug for years.

It is true that the longer the thread the more that can go wrong.

I noticed the problem but thought maybe it was just me. So thank you for the fix.

This is the only thread where I have seen that problem.

The staff librarians group moderator has a 1000 post threshold for closing and opening threads, if that number is of interest.
