Joan | 4 comments Once Upon a River was a different type of mystery. There was magic and fantasy and myths in the story. I kept notes of all the people I folded as there were multiple wanted to keep track of.
It starts with a seemingly drowned and dead 4 yr old girl, being ; brought into The Swan Bar next to the Thames River. There are three missing young children since 2 years before, so who is she. They get Rita Sunday, a midwife and nurse to come to The Swan and declare her dead. A few minutes later she is breathing and alive. She is mute,so they can not identify her. Is she Amelia the four year old kidnapped(2 yrs ago) daughter of the wealthy Vaughans; Qnn the sister of Lily White; or the granddaughter of the Armstrongs. The book shares myths about the River and family stories that kept me fascinated and surprised at how it ended.
Since people other than our group will see the comment info not want to pool the ending. I was surprised when I'm ready this as it was different than what inspected as a mystery. The characters, some mentally off, and the different family types kept it even more interesting. I hope my co EEs enjoyed it. I still have questions about the Quietly Ferryman myth in the story. What do you think?
