Apart from Gone Girl, what are you reading this month?

This month I'm planning to read, A Death in the Family, Middlemarch, California, The Odyssey, The Canterbury Tales and Gulliver's Travels

Vikki (vikki1) | 22 comments Good luck with Canterbury Tales. I read Wife of Bath for my English A level, tough to get your head around.
I've already read Gone girl. I'm currently reading Roses are Red by James Patterson, bit of light reading.

I studied the Canterbury Tales in my last year of high school, and I had to take a class on Chaucer for my degree. The tales are lots of fun once you get into them with all of the wonderful insults the pilgrims have for each other. And Gulliver's Travels and A Death in the Family are also very good.

Today I will finish The Stranger by Albert Camus and have just begun A Little History of Literature by John Sutherland. I will also read A Man Lay Dead by Ngaio Marshand The Road by Cormac McCarthyfor reading challenges. Not sure what else.

Lorilee (lthomas74) I got behind on my insane challenge so I need to hightail it. I am reading Columbine, Gone Girl, His Excellency: George Washington, The Lady in the Lake (Raymond Chandler), [book:A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail and Jane Eyre. I am sure there will be more, but that will get me started. Oh I have to read Middlesex too since I missed it earlier this year. I love reading and books!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this website because I get to geek out with all the other book lovers. Who else would understand book challenges?

How are you finding these big named releases I've heard pretty mixed things about the Mitchell.

Personally I really enjoyed the Waters and haven't made my mind up yet on if I want to read the other two. Although I skimmed the first page or 2 of J and didn't feel it quite click.

Big named release for me this month is however hands down The Children Act

Lesley Slowly making my way through Gone with the Wind.

Lorilee (lthomas74) One of my all time favorites. I think I prefer Rhett to Mr. Darcy.

Franky Slow month of reading for me. Too much getting in the way of reading. I am trying to get through Sophie's Choice.

Laurie Sept 21-27 is Banned Books Week in the US which celebrates the freedom to read. In keeping with the idea to read books that have been banned/challenged, I plan on reading Fahrenheit 451 which is the ultimate book about censorship and Beloved which is one of the most frequently challenged books in US schools.
