20.7 - Shorter is Sweeter - Allison Ann's Task: Finally Fall

I work in tourism and my business is seasonal - busy in the summer, quiet in winter. I love my work and I love most of the different people I interact with every single day for 18 hours per day, May to September. However, by the time Labour Day is over and things start to quiet down I am more than ready for the tourists to leave and my quiet little town to empty of people. Soon the deer will again outnumber the humans and my only neighbours will be loons. Ahhhhh!

So tourists, I love you, you pay my bills and keep me in books, but it is time for you to GO HOME.

This will be a one book task.

Read a book with the words "GO" and "HOME" found complete somewhere in the title, subtitle, series title, or author's name. They can be part of a larger word but must be found intact.

You can go simple like Don't Go Home. Or challenge yourself some more with an option like Westward Hearts(Homeward on the Oregon Trail #1) or A House Is a Broken Home by Patron Gold

Thanks Morgan. It's definitely a lifestyle choice. :)

Pia Hi! Will Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children work for this task?

Allison Ann | 354 comments Pia wrote: "Hi! Will Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children work for this task?"

Hi Pia, you're going to have to give me a link to the exact book you are talking about to tell for sure. But unless the letters "GO" are found somewhere in the author's name or if there is a subtitle or series - then I would say no it doesn't work.

Thanks, Jennifer. I needed that help.

Nicole | 1295 comments So it doesn't matter what order you find the words (ie home can come first) and go could be part of a bigger word?

Thanks!!!

Those are all good choices. The last one is actually the book I'm trying to get ahold of for my own task.

That's right. As long as G-O and H-O-M-E are found in order they can be found anywhere in sequence and as part of larger or compound words.

Pia Oops. My bad! I didn't realize it has to be g-o and h-o-m-e
I'll search for another book.
I think it can be You Can't Go Home Again
Thanks!

That works Navarra. I won't say enjoy because I suspect that book would have me bawling like a 2 year old, but happy reading anyway. ;)

I'm heading back to school to become a vet tech. I figured there may be something in there useful. Fortunately, the-love-of-my-life-that-isn't-my-husband whippet is still a puppy. I hope I've got a long, long time before I have to personally experience this stuff. :)

I wish you many happy years with your whippet puppy. :) I'm taking a break from animal rescue right now after losing too many old animals in too short a time, but it's so rewarding (and heartbreaking) I'm sure I won't stay away for too long.

Bless you for doing rescue. I've got a couple of friends here that do it. I would if my husband wasn't allergic to cats (we have 2 Devon Rexes that don't cause him grief), dogs (the whippet doesn't cause him any problems either) and horses. We've been forced to be choosy about our fuzzy companions, but I can go to work and love them all... ;.>

Allison Ann | 354 comments Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Can I have When The Gods Come Home To Roost?"

Hi Fiona. The title works just fine, but there's no page count on GR and I couldn't open the book on Amazon. If you have a copy and it is more than 100 pages you should probably get a GR librarian to fix the page count before you claim the book. Enjoy!

I looked it up on World Cat but no pages listed there either. Glad you found another book.

That book doesn't have a page count either, as it is an audio CD due to be published next month. But it seems to be the same as this book

/book/show/1...

so you might want to use that link instead. I love apocalyptic novels, so I'd be interested to know if this is any good. It sounds interesting, but I'll be honest, the pseudonym makes me a bit nervous. :)

It's not 100% intentional, a lot of them find me. :) But I do prefer them to most humans. It's funny I have allergies to cats, dogs, horses, rabbits and birds too but I just dope myself up when a new one comes into my house and a few weeks later I'm okay. I always say I'm allergic to all animals except my own.

Hi Catherine. As long as all those numbers are what the mods set up for the challenge, then the book itself is fine. I can't for the life of me understand the children's book rule, so I'm just avoiding them like they don't exist. :D Tra-la-la-la, life is fine here under these rocks.

Bea Allison Ann wrote: "As long as all those numbers are what the mods set up for the challenge, then the book itself is fine."

The Rules state: "Books that have an IL designation of MG+, UG, or UY (in the UK) may be used with no restrictions (other than general SRC and specific task requirements)". So since Back Home has a designation (per Catherine) of UY (no other info is needed), it can be used if it fits the task requirements and is at least 100 pages long (SRC requirement).

If UY means it is acceptable and it is UY then all other requirements are met and Back Home is a go.
