✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Over the first few years I owned a Kindle, I downloaded an amazing number of free books (I think it numbers nearly 1000!). Since I joined this group, I've been challenging myself to read them all, in groups of 100. So far, I've managed that twice and it's a brilliant way to organise my reading. This is my third group of 100 books that I've selected. I have read all of the free books I got in 2011 (the first couple of months I had my Kindle) so this 100 comes entirely from the list of books I downloaded in 2012.

From the experience of the last two lists, some will be brilliant, some average, some mediocre and some horrendously terrible. Therefore, I don't have to finish any book, but I aim to finish the majority. Equally, as I read so many books, I don't have to review them all, but definitely the best and worst of the list.

With the last list, I found it helpful to randomly select 50 books from the list to read, and then randomised the second 50. This time, I won't do that to start with, I will simply read whichever suits my mood next. However, I'll try not to leave the worst books for last this time!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Definite Recommendations!

The 9/11 Machine The 9/11 Machine by Greg Enslen

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I will be starting this after I have finished the last 4 books from the previous list but I'm all ready to go :)

message 6: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments The only one that looks familiar to me is Mile High Guy and I wasn't too impressed with it. I gave it a 2 star.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I've finished list two, I'm going to read a couple of other books this week and do some revision, so I will start this list, along with my course on Monday :)

Let's go!

Jay-me (Janet) | 3779 comments Joo wrote: "The only one that looks familiar to me is Mile High Guy and I wasn't too impressed with it. I gave it a 2 star."

I started reading this one & got bored and skipped through it. Then deleted others that I had downloaded by this author.

There are another couple of names that look familiar on that list.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Off to a bad start, Enhanced was terrible! Very very cliched! So I didn't finish it. On to the next one!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Chasing Darkness by Jill Falter was a good story but there were so many errors in there that it was difficult to read.

Reading The 9/11 Machine now

message 11: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments The author probably grew up in the era when it was considered more important to be creative than to be accurate. That lax education is coming back to bite us in the bum!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments The 9/11 Machine by Greg Enslen was a great read, a very interesting look at that terrible day.

Since then, I've been on a bit of a book binge! I didn't finish
Body Temperature and Rising (Lakeland Witches, #1) by K.D. Grace or The Blood Banker by David Prever but I've really enjoyed A Dark Kiss of Rapture (Renegade Angels, #0.5) by Sylvia Day , The Dark God's Bride (The Dark God's Bride, #1) by Dahlia Lu , Darkness Falls (Darkness Falls, #1) by Jessica Sorensen and First Visions (Second Sight, #1) by Heather Topham Wood . Emotionally Charged (Empath Chronicles, #1) by Selina Fenech wasn't a bad read either. Still reading my way through my list, I'm really enjoying having the next book set out for me!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Castle Cay (Julie O'Hara Mystery #1) by Lee Hanson was really good, couldn't finish Amongst My Enemies by William F. Brown or Children of the Fallen by Maya Lassiter though.

Don't you just hate it when the penguins start World War III? looks interesting!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12475 comments Glad you're motoring on with them.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Flame Moon (Flame Moon, #1) by K.J. Jackson , Always the Last to Know (Always The Bridesmaid, #1) by Crystal Bowling , The Buried Sky by Keith Hartman and The Covenant Within by R.A.R. Clouston were all good reads :)

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Yay, I've been spammed! And by a sockpuppet by the looks of things.

message 17: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments She's put that in every single group she belongs to!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments And joined groups specially to post it! And she's only written one review.... hmmmmm :)

message 19: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments She'll be his mum, then! :)

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I've read a handful more but I got sidetracked by Beautiful Demons (Peachville High Demons, #1) by Sarra Cannon and ended up buying and reading all of the series and the spinoff!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments After a bit of a sabbatical from the free books, I've finished Asylum Harbor (Rachel Scott, #1) by Traci Hohenstein :)

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I've finally got back to the free books list and have read Short Fuses by Stephen Leather , Firebird by Anthony Bellaleigh and Maid for the Billionaire (Legacy Collection, #1) by Ruth Cardello

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12475 comments Did you enjoy them?

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Firebird and Maid for a Billionaire were two very different but enjoyable books. Short Fuses was terrible!! I was glad it was only short.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I've read a few more, and I'm now at the half way point. Still no more really good recommendations although I did like A Shadow in the Flames by Peter Mann even if it was a bit disjointed at times.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments The Last Bride in Ballymuir (Ballymuir, #1) by Dorien Kelly was a great read but Guardian of the Moon Pendant (Highland Secrets) by Laura J. Williams was terrible!!

Over halfway now :)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12475 comments Congrats

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments That is an insane list. Really what I call a challenge. It must have took you ages to put all the links in as well.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I feel I should get back to making a dent in this! I'm going to aim to get through half of what's left by the end of the Summer. Just need to dig out my Kindle again!

message 30: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I tend not to get free books. I'm not saying they are all rubbish but I'd rather pay the suthor even just a pound. I couldn't bear to read rubbish books just for a challenge. Crusty this morning, aren't I? ;)

These are all books I got when I first got my Kindle and went a bit mad! Figured I'd try all (or most) of them. I have found some gems though, including two series where I ended up buying the lot! One I'd love to have in paperback but I don't have room (the fact it's not available is less of a concern!!)

message 32: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments There's many an author (well, practically all of them that I now follow) that I've gone onto buy their future books based on a freebie.
In going through my old tbr pile I found some gems. Yes there's a load of "not quite for me" books that I picked up. Some of them were in support of a "friendly" author having a freebie campaign.

Same here, mainly 'our' authors

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I enjoyed Unrequited but didn't get on with Stealing Venus. Working my way through The Osiris Revelations at the moment, not sure what to make of it yet but it is just gripping enough to keep me reading.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I'm up to 81 read or DNF out of 100 :)

message 37: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3328 comments Good going Claire!

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I've updated again and I've got 12 left off the list to attempt :)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12475 comments Fingers crossed

message 40: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments When that list has finally been finished, you'll have to start on your next list.

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I will do, looking forward to it, some of these are the ones I wonder what interested me about them in the first place!!

message 42: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I have just 3 left from 2012, a Sherlock Holmes, a Ken McClure and a Robert Rankin (which I have read a long time ago on paper, but I bought a shed load of his on kindle when they were 99p)

message 43: by Desley (Cat fosterer) (last edited Apr 04, 2017 05:45AM) (new)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12475 comments I'm going through the initial books I 'bought' when I first got my kindle, some I really am wondering what I was thinking - and I haven't got past the descriptions yet!

message 44: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3328 comments Oh dear. I've added to my freebie list lately thanks to a post on another forum by Jane who used to post here a lot - she had quite a few short books on Amazon free. Don't know when I'll get to read them though as am mostly still ploughing through the paper TBR!
