Question of the Day

It's not a newer one, but I was genuinely floored by Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and I don't hear people rave about it very much.

I feel like my answer for almost any bookish question is The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, but it truly is the perfect answer for this one. For a quicker read, The Tea Dragon Society is also a perfect pairing. It will definitely make you want to enjoy a cup of tea.
QOTD: What’s one book you’ve been meaning to read forever that you’re hoping to get to this spring?

Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries

I Heard You Paint Houses: Frank the Irishman Sheeran & Closing the Case on Jimmy Hoffa by Charles Brandt

zami: a new spelling of my name by audre lorde

The Ten Thousand Doors of January – I love this cover and this story.

Sir Kitson Glade from The Priory of the Orange Tree

Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter.

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

I have a reading music playlist that I made and I listen to it sometimes while I'm reading but it's not book specific. I have also made music playlists for books I'm reading if the author provides a playlist in the book and it just adds to the reading experience. I haven't made any mood boards though.

Never. Never even considered it.

i've done playlists before! it's really fun to "score" some of the books i read that i'm really loving. i need to get back into doing that; i haven't in a while.

I haven't but that's an awesome idea!
QOTD: Are there any books, crafts, or projects you want to finish before March is officially over?

I have a couple of books that I've started but I don't think I'll be able to finish before the day is over. I'm not working on any crafts currently. There are a few projects that I've been thinking about and working on so maybe I'll finish one of the smaller ones before tomorrow officially starts.

I would like to finish Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. And put final sealer on a ceramic piece.

My April is overloaded. Too many books that I would like to get read. But I finally came up with a list that I can work with.

From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home I read this book for the Bookmarked book club at the library and everyone loved it. I've always wanted to travel to Italy, but this ignited that sense of wanderlust even more. It's such a heartfelt and emotional story and is told so beautifully. The audiobook is excellent, as the author narrates it and speaks Italian for those snippets and it's such a beautiful language to hear. It features a love story, loss, family, community, food, and a sense of belonging. It's one of the best memoirs I've ever read. Highly recommend!

Hard to say, because I don't have a very strong wanderlust, but every time I read a Jane Austen it really makes me want to visit England.
QOTD: What’s a book you’ve owned for years but still haven’t read? If you don't own books, what's a book that's been on your TBR for years but still haven't read?

One of the first ones that come to mind is The Kite Runner.

there's multiple lol but the first that comes to mind is zami: a new spelling of my name by audre lorde. i really would like to get to it finally this year

I have had Rich Man, Poor Man by Irwin Shaw on my TBR list for almost 10 years. Good gosh! If I don't read it soon, I am going to take it off the list and forget about it.
Maybe this is a sign that I am not meant to read it.

A lot of the time, I decide by challenges and what I can get from the library. Sometimes, I pick up a book on impulse. I will glance at the new shelf and think " Hey, I heard that book was good. Think I will get it." Or "Oh, pretty, pretty cover. This one is next."

it's chaos honestly lol. i pick up and put down sooo much stuff for no real reason. i always make a list and then don't follow it even a little bit

Vibes mostly, and a bit of chaos. I have a TBR on my phone I can look at if I'm truly desperate.

Depends on if I have something I'm already reading at the time. Less when I'm busy, more when I'm stressed.

I decide based on mood, unless it's a book club pick or a buddy read.

I read less when I'm busy and stressed. If I'm stressed I can't really focus on a book and if I'm busy I don't have time to sit and read, unless I listen to audiobooks when I can while I'm busy. Between the two options, I read more when I'm busy and less when I'm stressed, I'd say.

Less. Zero concentration.

Right after I read it, I really wanted a sequel to If We Were Villains by ML Rio, but now I think it's good as it is.
