No, we read it. How about another?

I've been wanting to read The Village of Stepanchikovo by Dostoevsky. (I want to find his humourous side:) but I just can't find the book.

Stephen Howell | 54 comments The heart of a dog by Bulgakov?

message 6: by Blackwell (new)

Blackwell Boyce | 11 comments What about something contemporary? Slynx by Tatiana Tolstaya (descended from Tolstoy).

message 7: by Dan (new)

Dan (bookishnerdan) | 7 comments Sketches From A Hunter's Album by Turgenev is not marked as read on the group bookshelf and has been on my to read list a long time. I would love to finally get to it.

message 8: by Anne (new)

Anne Marie (anisoara) | 41 comments What about Day of the Oprichnik, by Vladimir Sorokin? People say Putin has practically used it as a blueprint. That's why it's at the top of my TBR list.

message 9: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Perova | 14 comments Those interested in the current situation in Russia can also read the novel "The Little Man" by Liza Alexandrova-Zorina, a new rising star in Russian literature (Glas 2014.) It's a sharp social commentary, fast moving, well written, memorable, and true-to-life.

message 10: by Anne (new)

Anne Marie (anisoara) | 41 comments Natasha, I've heard about The Little Man and that's a book I'd very much like to read.

message 11: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Perova | 14 comments Dear Anne, if you're interested in modern Russian fiction there are a number of Glas books you may find both enjoyable and informative. They are freely available from Amazon and other platforms as well as good bookshops. Do you live in America or Europe?
Thank you. Natasha
