DHASG August Challenge


Duration: August 1-August 31st, 2019

Introduction: August is here. The summer is winding down, folks. Let's enjoy the remaining days of summer with vacation and recreation, and good books.

Rules:


1. Any DHASG member can participate.
2. Sign up at any time during the month, but books must be read between August 1st and August 31st, 2019. Post when you sign up and update your progress regularly and when you finish. (Even though the challenge was posted late, feel free to includes your reads that you read them between August 1-3rd).
3. Rereads are fine. Reads can overlap with other challenges on the group, but a book can only count once in this challenge.
3. In your stats, write your level, include book name, author, date read, and how it fits the particular challenge point.
4.Have fun!

Levels:

1. Crazy Eights: Read 9-12 books.
2. Eight is Enough: Read 5-8 books.
3. The Heat is On!: Read 3-4 books.

Categories
:

1. Campfire Day: Some folks will finish out their summer with a camping trip. The first Saturday of August is Campfire Day, a day to enjoy this past-time of sitting by a campfire. Read a book that incorporates an activity that might take place by a campfire, or includes camping or an enjoying a campfire.
2.Climb Every Mountain: August 1st is National Mountain Climbing day, to celebrate the past-time of mountain climbing. Read a book where mountain climbing occurs, literally, or metaphorically, the lead character 'climbs a mountain' by overcoming an enormous obstacle in their life.
3.Friendship Day: The first Sunday in August is a day to celebrate friendships. Read a book that centers on a deep friendship between its characters.
4.Forgiveness is Divine: The first Sunday in August is also International Forgiveness Day. Read a book that deals prominently with the concept of forgiveness.
5.Clowning Around: The Sunday of International Clown Week, which is the first week of August, is National Clown Day. Read a book that includes a clown or a clown storyline of any kind, be it humor, drama, or horror.
6.Sisters Day: The first Sunday of August is the day to celebrate sisterhood. Read a book about sisters, either by blood or by adoption.
7.Book Lover's Day: August 9th is Book Lover's Day. Since you're a book lover, it's your day. Count any book you want to read for this part of the challenge.
8.Lazy Day: August 10th is a day to celebrate Laziness. We lead hectic lives, and need more time to rest. Use this day to do some good reading, and count the book you read on August 10th for this part of the challenge.
9.The Fruit of Your Loins:August 11th is Son and Daughter Day. Read a book centered on a prominent character and their relationship with their child, either son or daughter, or any combination thereof.
10.Jan and Peter Day: August 12th is Middle Child Day, in other words, focused on the Jan and Peter Bradys (from The Brady Bunch) of the world. Read a book that involves the concept of the middle child (or has a lead character who is a middle child). Some characteristics of middle children:
11. Left Hander in a Right Handed World: August 13th is Left Hander's Day. Read a book that relates to people being left-hand dominant. You could read a book that has a left-handed character or focus on traits of a left-handed person, or some other innovative way you want to use. You could even focus on the latin word for Left , sinister either as a title or thematically. Although I'm not implying left handed folks are evil (I'm left handed btw). Some left-handed people traits:
12. Take Your Pick!: Choose one of the following holidays to read a book for in this challenge: Eid-Ul-Adha, National Tell a Joke Day, Bad Poetry Day, Senior Citizen Day, National Honey Bee Awareness Day, Be an Angel Day.
