amyadoreswords do you listen to music while reading? if so, what kind of music?

message 2: by Sneha (new)

Sneha (lovegood19) I like silence while reading, but if someone near me is talking then I listen to music.
I like to listen to instrumental music or soundtracks of movies:)

Neda (majorasmask) | 2 comments I prefer silence when reading (unfortunately one reason why I haven’t managed to read in public transportation without a getting a headache).
However, sometimes I do want some background music and I enjoy listening to instrumental music (ballad-like OSTs) or musicals.
However, if i listen to music with people singing, it has to be a different language than what I’m actually reading the book in :)

Sneha (lovegood19) Yeah, if the song has lyrics in it then I will definitely sing along!

Krla | 1 comments Yes, music without lyrics is the best company for a chill reading day!

Kriti Krishnan | 1 comments I mostly listen to music while reading and it's not instrumental. It's songs that have lyrics but these are songs that I'm very familiar with. That way I'm not listening to the lyrics. You may ask me why listen to music at all when you're just going to tune it out. It's not that I'm tuning it out, it's bgm. I need it to keep me going.

This.

message 8: by Karen (new)

Karen I need to have something going on in the background, otherwise I quickly fall asleep! With total silence my mind starts to wander.

Sarah Shahin | 6 comments instrumental because words in the song can collide with the words i'm reading
so no lyrics
and the music i play is usually of the mood of the book,,
oriental when i read in arabic
jazz and blues jams when i read novels
and piano solos when im deep into it..
it's like background sound of movies

message 10: by Vera (new)

Vera West no music. background tv noise is ok

Shirley Golightly | 2 comments Yes, I love music in the backgorund, instrumental music, ususally movie soundtracks. My favorite is the music composed by Hans Zimmer, it's gorgeous, and createsthe perfect sorrounding while reading.

Courtney Amber Hill (court52210) | 1 comments Yes I listen to music at night before I go to bed and listen to a book. I have the music on low and the book

message 13: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Yes, I listen to music while reading but can't have the T.V. on in the background as it distracts too much.

message 14: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (lesliejean43) | 88 comments I also read with the radio on in the background. :)

message 15: by Rosey (new)

Rosey Belle (books_are_a_girls_best_friend) | 2 comments I love listening to music while I read. It sets the tone lol
One time I read Edgar Allen Poe and I put suspenseful dark music in the back. Scared the hell out of me lol
If I'm reading a romantic book- like dramione lol- I might put some hits about love like Ed Sheeran!
Sometimes I just listen to Jazz or Studying music. It has been proven that music helps the mind concentrate more.
I was in fact, listening to Kelpy G from Spongebob to help me read my history book xD
