That sounds interesting but we need to double check with Tammie if we can only put color or if there HAS to be a clothing’s name on the title.

Also I just signed up for DQs for Two Can Keep A Secret and I’ve no idea what to do, welp!

I think you could take Megan's suggestion as long as we can all agree. This is not something we can ask the MODs about without 'wrath'. If there is doubt among the team...don't use it or use something else.

DQs are easy to write...but I just checked the thread and it doesn't look like it's been decided who will right DQs. You might tag the thread so you can monitor when the choices are made...Typically they'll post those about 4 days ahead. If you've not done this before, I'll suggest checking out some of the others so you can get an idea. I'm doing Chestnut Man right now.

Ambi | 615 comments Thanks Tammie that’s really helpful. I guess I’ll just answer the DQs cause this is my first time. :)

Tammie | 4186 comments Some of the books on the 'bad book' list I can't even believe.
I'm toying with reading Outlander. If you think we could use it for the story, I'll read it. The others I'm reading will go pretty quickly...and Outlander is a re-read for me. So I should be able to finish it this week. I won't read it though if we can't use it in the story.

Remember...books used in a story that are NOT 'bad books' only amount to about 3 points....unless I'm understanding the rules incorrectly. Please feel free to set me straight on this.

If any of you like 'infuriating' dystopian books...I'll recommend Vox (it's one of the bad books). I read it recently and I was mad practically the whole time. Very fast read.

I'd encourage you...you would be more than fine doing it Ambi. It's not difficult...but your decision.

Also, the NBRC backroom book is up! It's Fifty Shades of Mr Darcy A Parody by William Codpiece Thwackery . It's free on Kindle Unlimited but not free to buy - $8AUD

Backroom Buddy Read: Fifty Shades of Mr Darcy: A Parody?

Or
Interstellar super explorer: star explorer?

Does the buddy read book also have to be a bad book?

message 573: by Midu (last edited Nov 05, 2019 01:46PM) (new)

Midu Hadi | 2744 comments If yes, then this is the only one that fits: Eligible (The Austen Project, #4) by Curtis Sittenfeld
And if that isn't a requirement, maybe we can go through this list and pick something that we all have: /list/show/1...
Another option (just brainstorming): the BOM The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistrup gives us sin bingo too

The Chestnut Man does not qualify for Sin Bingo...it would have to have 'guilty pleasure' as the 1st page of tags...however, it qualifies for 'color cover' which is 5 pts.

The bonus I just posted, I believe, is just for those 2 books.
We had planned to do a 'sin bingo' buddy read with The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky which we can still do...we should consider doing it during a week like this week where the mini is not as advantageous to us. I don't think we would want to do it during Envy week as it's a Green Sin Bingo book. I hope this makes sense.

Tammie | 4186 comments I read the 'bonus' post again...

Captains post in a captains thread if any of our teamies have read...

Fifty Shades of Mr Darcy: A Parody 7 points for participating in the Buddy Read (this is a 'backroom' book)

16 points (double page count) for reading Interstellar super explorer

...sorry for any confusion

message 576: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4186 comments Ambi...I believe you are planning to write our story. Please try and get all of the 'bad books' in to the 1st story. I'm not sure we are going to want to submit a second story as the books are only work 2 points. If you have time to play around with this a bit sooner than later, we can work out the details here in a few days.

Thanks,

I'm doing checks on SS tonight...I've got another one...check back there may be more.

Mary's book Neandrathal Seek Human isn't quite pink enough...another good choice for story if it can be worked in.

*On the SS main page I highlighted in yellow a few books that might be best put elsewhere.

message 581: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Tammie you put 50 shades for consequence but we have to use titles in our story and I have no idea what to put for that. Did you have anything in mind? Let's take this conversation to the SS.

message 586: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4186 comments **Team Invidia...As I've mentioned before I'm thinking we'll likely just end up with 1 story. Ambi has completed a very nice version...the opportunity is that it includes quite a few books that I don't think are 'bad' books...some we will need regardless

Help me by verifying you are in fact reading these 'bad books' this week as these do not appear on our 'main SS' as of yet:
Prince of Wolves - Midu
Daughter of Smoke and Bone - Midu
God's War - Midu
The Phantom of the Opera - Ambi

These books are not noted as 'bad books' but are noted on the SS. If you found them on the 'bad list', please correct by adding to the bad book column to the right of the story column:
The Young Elites - Ambi
The Beekeeper of Aleppo - Megan
The Last Book Party - Cecily
Talking to Strangers - Ambi
Stuck up Suit - Cecily
Girls in White Dresses - Ambi
Typical - Em
Branded - Tina
The Murder at the Vicarage - Megan
Things You Save In A Fire - Megan
Sometime After Midnight - Tina

If you are reading a 'bad book' and we don't know about it, please note it on the SS asap.

Note I've moved Ambi's story to the very top of the SS to help with the organization of the mini SS a bit. Look way at the top to the right.

Thanks everyone!

Typical is not a bad book. should i take it off the story and put it only on the main SS instead? i can use it for green cover.

but i am currently reading Tender is The Night, which is listed as a bad book. i put it on the second story; should i move it also?

Go ahead and change Typical to to Envy/Green Cover...5 pts

We'll probably move Tender to the main story vs 'young'. Will see what everyone else has.

Ambi | 615 comments Tammie didn't you want to add certain characters to the story? Have you thought of any way to put that? I can change some things around to accommodate that. :)

Tammie | 4186 comments Ambi wrote: "Tammie didn't you want to add certain characters to the story? Have you thought of any way to put that? I can change some things around to accommodate that. :)"

Yeah...I haven't really thought about changing the story yet...trying to get the books right first. Let's target maybe tomorrow afternoon or pm around now to work on some changes. I think we'll leave most of it...maybe shorten a bit and transpose...should be pretty easy with what you've already done.

message 591: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4186 comments Looking at this story.
We really need an adjective. A beekeeper unfortunately is a noun...I cannot figure out how to make it in to an adjective.

What might work...
Branded (Tina)

We could move some things around too if others have ideas on this.

message 592: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Branded would actually work better. :D

message 593: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments I changed the location if Cecily doesn't mind. I totally didn't know The Phantom of the Opera was a bad book. I've had it on my shelf for weeks and I finally got to it this week. Turns out it will give us bonus points whoopee!

message 594: by Tammie (last edited Nov 07, 2019 07:30PM) (new)

Tammie | 4186 comments OK...I took another stab at Ambi's story. Have a look. If we need to change it again we can. We still need to add an adjective. Ambi feel free to do another version if you like...I'll check in again tomorrow...it will only get better :)

message 597: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments I have time to read but not always time to put things places I have finished a few books I just haven't had a chance to get to my laptop if anyone can access my shelf and has extra time to do that kind of stuff go for it! I've been working two jobs. I have some time off next week so it will be better then. Otherwise, I should be able to get them added tomorrow night

message 598: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4186 comments Ambi wrote: "Is there a word limit to the story?"

I'm not sure. The sample story was 4 sentences. I think we should try and keep it short though.
