Ken | 59 comments I've heard rave reviews of the Broken Earth series. Has anyone read it? What did you think?

Bonita (fiona14) | 3 comments I've read Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy, and though it was very good, I wouldn't call it a clean read. It's been a few years, so I don't remember all the details, but there is at least 1 sex scene, though it's far from sexy. Just graphic, though not gratuitous. I don't remember whether there was swearing.

Mary | 61 comments 1st book in the series: A scene with painful, unwanted sexual relations, two children found dead (one bludgeoned to death, the other tortured), and unrelenting violence.

Bonita (fiona14) | 3 comments Yes, MaryBliss is right that the sex scene I'm talking about - it's technically consensual but unwanted & very unpleasant. And she's right that there's tons of violence.
