That's it?
That's it?
Tros was great!
I have fond memories of the Horseclans books from back in high school, but these day I'm a bit afraid to revisit them. Some great covers, though.

The only thing I'll say about Tros is that it's actually essentially one giant book, so you'd want to start from the beginning.

I really love the first book, and enjoyed several of the others, but when I tried to do a straight reread, I found they got excessively repetitive, and Adams increasing insertion of his own real world politics gets old, if for no other reason than you can predict a character's role in the story based on which boxes they check. (Ex: you know any church figure will be corrupt at best, a malicious, sexual deviant at worst, based on Adams deep distrust of organized and religion and particular hatred of Catholicism.)
Yeah, the last time I read them (probably in the 90s), I kind of bogged down somewhere around Bili the Axe or shortly thereafter.
When first I read them, I started with Horseclans Odyssey because, per the review in Dragon Magazine, it was a prequel to the previously-published books.
They did all get rereleased as eBooks not too long ago, but the eBook covers are kind of horrific

for example.

Anyway, to be clear with everyone, I wasn't making a comment one way or the other on Adams politics, just quite simply the asides get longer and longer and more and more strident and undermine the story. (Think of it like early, Dell Gor books vs. later, DAW ones...) Could we just get back to the post-apocalyptic story with immortals and talking saber-tooth tigers?
