I've landed on square 9, Hobart. Could I have 3 requests from my shelf at Susan's Bookopoly shelf, please?

Here are some for consideration, Susan.

The Imperfectionists
The Way of Kings (I know, it's an impossibly big book, but think of it as getting it out of the way. Very worth the read.)
The Chrysalids

Thanks, Bea. I'll at least try The Way of Kings. It's on December's shelf, anyway.

I can't believe there are only 3 of us with Australia as our main board. I've discovered so many authors I love from Australia whom I never knew existed until I started spending time in this group.

I've landed on square 14,Esperance. Since Bea just chose for my first book, could you choose for me for this one, Tien? I'd like 3 requests from my shelf at Susan's Bookopoly shelf, please. There's no real rush. I think the first one will take a while.

It's such a good book, Susan! The middle is a bit of a struggle but once you passed that, I think the last 100-200 pages are very fast pacing & action packed.

Not to worry, I haven't done the group announcement yet as I figure I'll wait until all challenges for 2020 are posted so I won't be inundating members with announcements

Here are my rather random picks lol

The Reality Dysfunction (Night's Dawn #1) -on my tbr
Sand Omnibus (Sand #1-5) -I feel that this so very much your cup of tea for some reason?
Company of Liars -been on my radar for a long time though I've resisted to add to my tbr for some reason...

I want to roll so bad!!! But holding firm to my promise of finishing MM19 first... 5.5 books to go. I'm literally smack bang in the middle of one of them and am really enjoying it, I wondered why I've been dragging my heels with this read!

I think I will start rolling today.

Tien, you're right. I really liked Wool, by the same author as Sand. But in this case, I think I'll go for Company of Liars, since it's the least like the one I chose from Bea's picks.

Wow, Bea! Some of the titles of the books on your shelf are really interesting.
First pick is a no-brainer for me. I absolutely loved The Map of True Places
Children of Blood and Bone, because it's been recommended to me.
And The Clockmaker's Daughter, because you and I both love historical fiction with a mystery thrown in.

I think I will go with The Map of True Places this time, although they are all great picks, Susan.

How about ...
The Pillars of the Earth. It's long, but good.
Armada. I haven't read it (yet), but I gave another book by him 5 stars.
Death of a Red Heroine - on my "considering" list.

Have fun.

How about one of these for Roll#3

Moriarty (Sherlock Holmes, #2) by Anthony Horowitz Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (Dirk Gently, #1) by Douglas Adams Chasing the Shadows by Maria V. Snyder

message 26: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9026 comments Mod
@Jammin Jenny, thanks for your picks but this is the Australia board and you're over at Canada's so by the rules, you can't do the pickings for this board :)

I will provide your picks for this roll, Tien.

Breath of Earth - new series
Moriarty - like the author

message 31: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9026 comments Mod
Thanks, Bea!

I really want to read Daughter but I've had Moriarty (from the library) for a while now and it's probably time to read it so I can return :)

If I'm reading the thread correctly, you still need picks for your roll #3, Tien. Right? If so, here they are. (If not, just ignore this.)

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Picking up one of Jamming Jenny's choices for you.
Chasing the Shadows. I enjoyed her Study series.
Above the Bay of Angels. I enjoyed her Constable Evans series.

I've always just asked to borrow it again as soon as it expires.

message 36: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9026 comments Mod
I could do that but the process of loading the book from my pc to my Kobo is a little bit fiddly cuz my Kobo is getting a bit old and the bit where you plug in the cable is kinda loose so... I'd rather read quickly before expiry and I'll have to re-load the book all over again.

Finished Dirk Gently just in time ;)

I have now landed at P: Questacon [which I've still yet to go! I'd really like to take the boys there one day before they grow up too much more lol], could I please have 3 picks from my shelf? Cheers!
