Darci Day | 164 comments Several of the titles in The Dresden Files series are puns-Fool Moon, Dead Beat, etc. I'm going with Grave Peril (it's about angry ghosts).

Kelly Raquet (rackett534) | 67 comments I highly recommend Ella Minnow Pea (Mark Dunn) - it's such a cute book and fits the category well!

I think I will be reading Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss for this one.

Good point. I decided to look up the definition and in case anyone is interested, it's rather two fold:

pun

n.
A play on words, sometimes on different senses of the same word and sometimes on the similar sense or sound of different words.

She also has one called The Rogue Not Taken, book one in her “Scandals & Scoundrels series.

K.L. Middleton (theunapologeticbookworm) | 816 comments I just found out that Kirsten Weiss, who wrote The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum, has a cozy mystery series about a woman who inherits a B&B with a UFO theme. The titles are: At Wits' End, Planet of the Grapes, and Close Encounters of the Curd Kind: A Doyle Cozy Mystery. I'm planning to read the whole series next year, so I'll probably use the third book for this prompt.

I agree that the first two are puns, but I fail to see why the others are puns. I'm hoping that someone will explain it to me.

Denise | 372 comments Terry Pratchet has puny titles, though I think I've read them all. A good one is Carpe Jugulum, and another one is Equal Rites

I'm not sure what to pick, I'll have to come back to this one.

Where is the pun with 1Q84?

Wow. This is a rather long book. It looks to be interesting. Can you tell me what you enjoyed about it? I'm amazed it hasn't gotten more press, though it looks as if the author isn't particularly putting effort into it, at least not on ŷ. She has no profile or anything much. I'm willing to read it if I can locate a copy... Thanks for the recommendation!

Naturally Tan
Nina Here Nor There: My Journey Beyond Gender

message 87: by Diana (new)

Diana (candystripelegs) | 240 comments Almost all of Kim Harrison's books from The Hollows series would work pretty well for this if you like paranormal and urban fantasy. The titles are puns of Clint Eastwood movies.

message 88: by Monica (new)
