Sara Kinda like picking a book by its cover, have you ever picked up a book because the title intrigued you?

Monica (booksarelove) | 121 comments The Marriage Game by Alison Weir. At first glance, it appeared to be a book about a fictitious TV game show or a book that could have been made into a movie starring Debbie Reynolds or Sandra Dee or Doris Day, but upon second glance, I found out that it's about Elizabeth I.

Alicia Ellsworth (sanukipityreads) | 160 comments These are two books I read for past challenges that I picked up because of the title (loved both)
The Map of Salt and Stars
Fruit of the Drunken Tree

Linda Varick-cooper | 20 comments I was thinking of using it for the 20+ words in a title prompt, but it would also work for this one. Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows

message 10: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Weber | 270 comments That's how I added Well Met to my TBR so I'll probably go with it. I also added My Sister, the Serial Killer because the title intrigued me too. I'll probably find another place to slot that one.

I’ve been wanting to read Death by Dumpling ever since I saw it on the New Books shelf, because I love the title. I do read books just because I am attracted by the title, and (sadly) half of the time I don’t like the book :-(

Other books, if I hate the dumpling book:
Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake (I guess I’m hungry when I’m at the library)
Bucky F*cking Dent
What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky
Everyone Brave is Forgiven
You Die When You Die
How to Be Both
Having a Coke with Godzilla
this shouldn't be beautiful but it was & it was all i had so i drew it

I definitely bought this one because the title caught my attention.

Karin I just remembered another book I read due to the title, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated

Some that I have read for the title have already been suggested here by others.

Therese | 133 comments This is one book I was able to remember off the top of my head because I got it for this very reason Running with Scissors.

Here's another fun title in my TBR:
Emperor Mollusk versus The Sinister Brain

message 26: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Starflight | 967 comments I added Space Unicorn Blues to my to-read list solely because, with a title like that, how could I not? Looks like it's getting added to the list...

Other possible titles:

The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
John Dies at the End
Working with People I Want to Punch in the Throat

Thanks for the recommendation! I am not usually an audio reader, but I might sample this and see how it goes.

If you're interested, I just posted a review of the book on my blog.

Linda Varick-cooper | 20 comments I read this book because of the title:
The Jewish-Japanese Sex and Cook Book and How to Raise Wolves by Jack Douglas
The Jewish-Japanese Sex and Cook Book and How to Raise Wolves

Actually I DNF'd it because it was not a very good book. So, I wouldn't recommend it. But it does have a great title!

message 38: by Rachael (new)

Rachael | 136 comments Actually mine is going to be This Book is Gay which I forgot was on my bookcase and originally bought because the name caught my attention, so I think it fits a lot better!

Although I have not read his book, I did read Chris Rose’s newspaper chronicles during the months following Katrina. He interjected the right amount of humor during a trying time.
I hope you enjoyed your NOLA visit and let us know about the book.

Happy reading.

Britta | 97 comments Fool on the Hill and Sewer, Gas and Electric: The Public Works Trilogy by Matt Ruff

Books I read because of the title that started my obsession with everything the authors have written, ever:
Every Dead Thing by John Connolly
Quite Ugly One Morning by Christopher Brookmyre

Books I bought because of the title still on my tbr shelf:
A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka
Tagebuch eines Sentimentalen Killers (Diary of a sentimental killer) by Luis Sepúlveda
A Case of Curiosities by Allen Kurzweil

message 41: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments The Diary of a Bookseller is my choice for this one. Dream job *sigh*

message 42: by Miranda (new)

Miranda (mirandom) | 37 comments I was just scrolling through my library's ebook app and this comic caught my eye. It's definitely a contender for this prompt.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments While browsing upcoming new releases at Berkley’s Website, this one caught my attention, so thought I’d toss it out there for anyone else looking for ideas: 142 Ostriches

message 46: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I was talking about books with a friend today (as you do) and remembered a book I read a few years back called The Trouble with Goats and Sheep - thought it might be an intriguing title for anyone who is still looking for a book for this prompt.

message 47: by Drakeryn (new)

Drakeryn | 708 comments Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky sounds pretty sweet. I don't usually read MG but I may make an exception for this one. Also I like the cover:

Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky (Tristan Strong #1) by Kwame Mbalia

message 49: by Harry (new)

Harry Patrick | 109 comments Just finished reading Highway of Tears: A True Story of Racism, Indifference and the Pursuit of Justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls by Jessica McDiarmid. A true crime book about the disapperances & murders on Indigenous women & girls along Hwy 16 in British Columbia.

I think this book could also be used for the following prompts:
A book containing a map
A book about a subject you know nothing about
A book by a journalist
A book with a three word title

message 50: by Sally (new)

Sally HC The year of magical thinking.
