I'm Aimee, 25, my author name is AJWoolfenden and as you can guess... I love books!
Im a new author but avid reader. Im very new to this website I look forward to reading lot of adventures and stories 😁
I love reading YA, Fiction, Fantasy, History, Crime and Psychology books.
My own book is about vampires, if anyone fancies taking a bite out of that (hehe).
So what are some of your favourite genres to read?

My name is Francesca but I go by Fran most of the times, I am from Italy but I currently live and work in the UK, where I also got my degree in English Literature with Creative Writing. I love to read YA fantasy and contemporaries, historical fiction, romance, and Latin American literature of any genre :)

Hi Fran! Lovely to meet you! I'm interested in the fact you've taken a Creative Writing course! I want to know how you found the course? Did it feel like it helped you? I was 50/50 on doing it as I was afraid it would have taken the fun and enjoyment out of writing.

A.J. - My daughter took a creative writing class and she loved it. I would guess that the instructors are vital in determining whether the class is enjoyable or not. I'm sure some can make writing even more fun and others will suck the joy right out of it.

AJ, Thanks so much for your question, and thanks Kristie for yout input, I agree wholeheartedly with what you said, teachers indeed play a great role in how worthwhile a creative writing class can be.
I will be completely honest in saying that, even though I liked writing, it was never as satisfying to me as reading was. I primarily chose to study it because of my desire to work as an editor, when I told myself "you can't judge someone else's writing if you don't know what you're talking about" lol. That being said, I did feel like, while studying it and taking many different courses on it, writing creatively was more of a chore to me rather than a hobby, but it did teach me a lot of things and it sharpened my writing abilities to a much higher level. All in all, I highly recommend taking a course, because I look at it more as an investment in your future writing, even if it might take the fun out of it for a bit (I don't think it can ever be taken out of it completely), it will improve your abilities so much that you will be able to enjoy your own writing a lot more than you might already be doing!
I hope this response was clear and complete enough! If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask I would be more than happy to help! :D

A very big Hi to all in this groups. Looking forward to have a great time here.

Thanks for replying back! Yeah I get what you mean, I guess it does depend on the teacher! I'm just not very good academically so I always worried it would hinder me. But thanks for the input, I'll put it to the back of my mind and think things over !

Thanks for your advice ! I guess I'm being a little bit of a grinch about it! Haha !

I'm based in the UK, an avid reader, aspiring writer and graduated with a degree in English Lit minoring focusing on Shakespeare and Creative Writing. I also host two podcasts (no self-promotion here, it's all in my profile).
I have joined in the hope of getting book suggestions, I am looking to try out new authors and new books. Everyone has their favourites, but I would love to expand on the ones I have already and get into more.
My addiction to reading started when I was about 5 and was given money by my mum to buy something in a shop on our way home from a camping holiday in Cornwall. While my brother and sister invested in sweets I bought a Ladybird hardback fairytale (Sleeping Beauty). And I haven't looked back since.
I will say it loud and proud: I am Raye and I am addicted to books, it's been less than 24 hours since I finished reading the first book on my TBR pile.

Hi everyone! I'm Elizabeth and I've been addicted to books since I can remember my mom reading me bedtime stories before bed (I'm 23).
I love to collect and catalog books. I am open to reading all genres of books, but lately I've really been into thriller, suspense and true crime.
Some of my favorite authors include Stephen King, Michael Crichton, and Margaret Atwood. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is my absolute favorite book-- I've read at least five times.
I'm really excited to have a place to talk about books!

My love for reading started at the age of 9 when I first picked up Harry Potter. Couldn't put down any book ever since!
I first began my reading journey with Fantasy genre, but slowly explored the others as well and now I can proudly tell there's no specific genre I'd prefer, as every book, every story is special to me in its own way
And I'd like to add just one thing here about this amazing platform. From the past 6-7 years I had been barely reading. But following some of the active folks here, stalking their reading activity, seeing them meet their yearly reading challenge gave me enough motivation to approach my dusty bookshelf and finally pick up a book and resume reading!
And for that, I'm so very grateful for all of you out here. ❤️
Will look forward to a wonderful journey of reading ahead. And like others pointed out, it's really nice to have a place to talk about books :')

I'm glad you've rekindled your love for reading! Reading truly is amazing. Welcome to the group :)

My name is Amanda. I've been on ŷ for several years and joined this group in hopes of reading some books that are on my to-read list. I enjoy reading a mixture of popular fiction, classics, historical fiction, YA, fantasy, and mystery. I'm quite busy and don't have as much time as I would like to read, but I'm hoping to use my spare time more wisely.
I live in Massachusetts and work as an occupational therapist. I play roller derby and softball and enjoy crafting, knitting, and spending time with my family, friends, and pets.
I'm looking forward to reading along with you all!

I work nights (midnight to 0830, 5 nights a week) at a 30 day alcohol and other drugs (AoDA) rehab. Working nights is isolating on many levels, but it gives me lots of time to read.
I've been on ŷ since 2018, but just recently discovered groups.
I read all genres, but most often mysteries, horror, and therapy textbooks. Right now I'm reading King's the Institute .

Are you in school or do you just read therapy textbooks for your own interests and learning?

Long answer to a short question: I'm a former Christian minister (Episcopal Church, 11 years) and in addition to the other stuff I lead the spirituality group for my unit. I started reading the textbooks as a way of fleshing out the theory behind the group. On my unit, spirituality is entirely secular- no proselytizing at all.
I just finished a course to obtain a Substance Abuse Counselor In-Training. So no, I'm not in school but the textbooks are for work.

I'm Aniket from India. I'm in my mid-20's and I just graduated in Electrical and Electronics engineering.
I read books from different genres and as long as I find the subject or plot interesting, I don't really care about the genre. Having said that, my favourite genres are mystery, crime and thrillers. I've been trying to get into horror recently. I also read a lot of Manga and graphic novels.
I look forward to participating in challenges and chatting about books. :)

Hi everyone I’m Vivian. I’m an 18yr college student majoring in filmmaking. My favorite book has to be Why Moms are Weird. I don’t really have a favorite author at the moment. I enjoy reading anything that catches my eye. :)

Looking forward to discussions and reading BotM w/ y'all!

It's really hard for me to choose favourites, but I do like Stephen King a lot.
