Cj | 2 comments I am new to popsugar’s challenge and I am very excited, but have a couple of questions... can a book count for more then 1 prompt, or does it need to be a different book for each prompt? Also, is there somewhere that I record the books throughout the year as I read them? Thank you for your help!

I think most readers use one book per prompt, but it's completely up to you, there are no rules and no one will check up on what you read.

There is a post where people are sharing spreadsheets they created:
/topic/show/...
We do not maintain a "group spreadsheet" here, you make a copy for yourself and it's your own personal list.

There is also a post where members have shared the books they plan, and you can go back and edit your comment each time you complete one of the categories:
/topic/show/...

If there is a particular book you want to read but you can't figure out which category you could check off with it, you can post your question here:
/topic/show/...

It's just lucky that I saw your post. With so many members, individual posts like this get lost in the shuffle so we discourage it just so that people don't feel ignored. There is a general post for questions here:

David Cromarty | 64 comments I usually use books for multiple prompts to begin with, then once I've done all the prompts I go back and try to replace the duplicates so that every prompt has a different book.

At least, in theory I do. In practice I never actually get that far. But as has been said already, there are no rules. Do what works for you.

Nichelle | 58 comments I only use one book per prompt..and now within the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Popsugar group there is a general way to keep track of HOW many books you have completed just for Popsugar. You create a separate shelf for the books and once you mark it read, it tallies it for you..this will work well for those who planned the books ahead of time. which I do and it works better for me.

melissa Can we use a book we have already read?

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I used a mix of books I plan to reread and new books. I, also, have a different book for each prompt because I'm using this challenge to meet my goodreads book goal of 110 books read this year.

Liz | 2 comments There was a group spreadsheet with 2020 prompts when I looked on this site earlier. Now I can't find it. Can anyone help? Thanks!

thedailydiva | 4 comments I might be making things too complicated. But, is there a way to search within this group for mention of a book I’m interested in reading to see if someone else has tagged what prompt it’s appropriate for? I’d love to look up a book I want to read and see if anyone’s talking about it and where it could fit? Any ideas would be great. TYIA!

There is a listopia for each prompt that is linked in the first post of each prompt's discussion thread. If the books you are interested in are labeled as "Want to Read" in Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, it is pretty easy to see the differently colored box or boxes as you scroll through the lists.

You can search the discussion posts for the title of the book and see if it comes up in any of the prompt threads. This is in the top right on a desktop browser. I don't know if you can search groups in the app.

You could also post in the monthly discussion and ask everyone there where the specific title you're thinking of reading might fit in the challenge. You're likely to get a few responses quickly there.

I posted about a book I have out from the library that's not for the challenge and got a bunch of prompt suggestions right away :-)

Barb Dudziec | 24 comments Is there a discussion thread for prompt #2? I thought I saw one but now I can't find it.

If you go the discussion thread, there's a "more" at the bottom of the list. Click that and you'll find the one for #2 (whichever that one is).

message 16: by Sara (new)

Sara The discussion thread default to sort by last updated, but if you use a browser you can sort them alphabetically (which would put them in numerical order)

Judy | 31 comments Challenge Completed...
Apparently I'm a compulsive "completist" and once I have my list of books for the Challenge I just have to keep reading (also I read very fast and I'm retired). So, this is to announce that I have finished the Challenge (regular and advanced). I know in the past there has been a list of questions to answer when finished, but I don't see it yet so I'll try to answer the ones I can remember anyway.
My list number is 398. (My Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ shelf name is 2020 Popsugar under Judy Duer if you want to see reviews.)
My favorite prompt was "a book on a subject you know nothing about" The Ghost Map by Steven Johnson (about the Victorian era cholera plague in London)
My least favorite prompt was Read a Banned Book During Banned Books Week. I read a banned book, but didn't want to wait until September to complete the challenge, so I have pledged to read another banned book then to make up for it.
Will I do the challenge in 2021? I imagine so, barring some catastrophe. I would probably still have read this many books at this point in the year, but I like being encouraged to read things I might not have read otherwise.
[I know this isn't the right place to put this, so I'll be glad to move it when the right place is set up (or someone tells me where it is).]

Barb Dudziec | 24 comments Wow, congratulations Judy! Even if you would have read this many books in this amount of time anyway - which is a lot - its even harder that you filled all the challenges in this amount of time.
well done :)

Congratulations Judy! I'm impressed! Yeah, we usually set up a thread for completion of the entire challenge about midway through the year. Maybe we need to consider opening it earlier for our power readers ;)
