Yes, our focus is on finishing the series on our shelves. But! As you complete them, please share that news AND if you'd recommend them.

It's seriously okay to add a series...just make certain you keep making progress on what you've already started.

So, what series did you just finish and loved?

I just finished the Brown and de Luca series last week and it is fantastic. It starts off as a paranormal mystery with a hint of romance and evolves to a romantic suspense. It's really very good.

I asked the author (using Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ' feature) if the series was over. She stated that her contract with the publisher, Harlequin MIRA, ended with this last book but she was considering writing one more book and self-publishing.

It's a short series...4 full-length books and one novella.
Sleep with the Lights On (Brown and de Luca #1) by Maggie Shayne Wake to Darkness (Brown and de Luca, #2) by Maggie Shayne Dream of Danger (Brown and de Luca, #1.5) by Maggie Shayne Innocent Prey (Brown and De Luca, #3) by Maggie Shayne Deadly Obsession (Brown and de Luca, #4) by Maggie Shayne

I second Jonetta about this wonderful series. I really hope she puts another book out!

Dawn I just finished The Faces of Evil by Debra Webb. I loved the series. She wrote the ten book, plus one novella series to cover a period of months, and while there was at least one crime mystery per book, the series is about one big crime mystery which is resolved in book 10. She has announced, much to my relief, that she will continue with the main cast of characters in stand alone books. The next one is The Dying Room, to be released in March. If you like crime mysteries, I recommend this series. It was available on Kindle Unlimited. She only released the first 5 in audio though.

I'm so jealous you finished! Good news that the characters continue. The series is already on my binge plan.

message 6: by Dawn (new)

Dawn I totally binge read this one...then had to wait for the last book and novella lol.

message 7: by Deb (new)

Deb (deb605) I'm jealous too Dawn, I am up to #4 and trying very hard to finish, but you know how that goes. There is always another series to read :)
I am enjoying this one a lot though.

message 8: by Dawn (new)

Dawn I am being very careful to say nothing about how this plays out. But I will say...wait until you get to book 10!

Dawn Jorran...make sure you read the prequel...I think it was important for the back story

Quynh (quynh_o) | 245 comments For the YA/fantasy crowd, I highly suggest Daughter of Smoke & Bone series by Laini Taylor. It's only 3 books. I pretty much binge read this whole thing. The writing is great, love the characters, and the books will set your imagination on fire. At least it did for me. I haven't read a lot of YA so there's not much for comparisons, but this is high up even on my favorite series of all time list. Hollywood has been diving into the whole YA-books turned movies lately, and this is one series where I think it would be great to see on the big screen.

I listened to the first book and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the next two in the trilogy.

Dawn/Jonetta, I got so excited about this series that I
signed up for KU (my library didn't have them) to get Silence and 6 others (not in RO, of course), bought 3 (#1-3). Will have to buy #4-6, if I can't wait on the library.

Anyway, read Silence already and it was really good.

This one is on my tbr too (I have book one and two, I think).

Quynh - did you read or listen to this series?

message 21: by Liz (Bugetta) (new)

Liz (Bugetta) (bugetta) | 399 comments One of my favorite series this year is an NA series, The Ivy Years, by Sarina Bowen. I know a lot of you don't like NA, but this series was SO GOOD! I feel like a lot of NA is all about angst for the sake of angst, so it doesn't feel authentic, but it felt really true to life for me in all three novels and one novella. The first two books and the novella are m/f romance and the third book is m/m.

message 22: by Quynh (new)

Quynh (quynh_o) | 245 comments Liz, I read all 3 books. I'm not very good with audio. My brain focuses better with words. I have a hard time doing recorded lectures for class as it is. I would zone out often. Plus, reading allows me to absorb things at my own rate. I would hate to rewind parts on audio if I missed something.

Thanks! I think I have the first book on audio, so I'll give it a try. I like listening to paranormal/fantasy and mysteries on audio. I totally understand your difficulty with audio. It took me awhile to get used to it and it's definitely a very different experience from reading the book. I am also very glad for the 30 seconds back button on the audible app. :)

Liz (Bugetta) (bugetta) | 399 comments Sounds good, Jonetta. I probably won't start it until the new year anyway. I have the first book on audio and the second is an e-book and third to be acquired (probably from the library).

message 30: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (thebooknympho) I had read/listen to much romance lately and needed something in the urban fantasy world and waited something I knew (or thought I knew) wouldn't have any or very little romance. So I picked a series told from a male's POV. WOW! I loved it and it was on audio.

Charming (Pax Arcana, #1) by Elliott James Daring (Pax Arcana, #2) by Elliott James

This author and narrator team has made it to my favorite list.

Another series to add to my list. It does sound like a good one. Thanks for the recommendation, Jennifer.

message 33: by Laura (Kyahgirl) (new)

Laura (Kyahgirl) (kyahgirl) Oh you guys! I should never have opened this page.... Now i have to add more series to my TBR! These sound so good.

I know we have some fairly young people in our group so i wanted to recommend a series i have followed for years and have re read a few times while waiting for another book.... Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs . This last month has been tough for me with my mom passing away and taking several trips to B.C. I needed books to read that i knew i would enjoy. I also have several of this series on audio so that was great during travel time. My daughter started this series when she was about 14 and really loved it so i know it suits a wide audience (age wise) of urban fantasy aficiandos.

Laura, I'm so sorry about your Mom's passing. My heart goes out to you.

I'm a big fan of Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, too.

Thanks so much Quynh. You are kind.
With respect to Mercy Thompson, if I had to make a short list of series I love enough to have in paper, electronic, and audiobook format, this is one of them. I love it that much! I thnk Kate Daniels and World of the Lupi would make that list too.

I read Charming (Pax Arcana, #1) by Elliott James last month and enjoyed it a lot (except for the gianormous info dump world building. I'm going to have to get the second book but if I could find it in audio even better.
