Why is lobster girl continually closing threads of books for “lack of plot details� when clearly all of the posts people are putting in plot details to the best of their ability? If we all could remember the plot details as clearly as they want we wouldn’t need good reads� Google would suffice to find our book.

Only posts that have vague titles/headers are being closed. It's one of the group rules that topic headers have to have a few plot details. And need to say more than "Help me find this book" or "Contemporary romance"

Yes - Rosalyn's comment is correct.

I understand that some people may see the "remedy" as draconian, and maybe it is. But as the group gets ever larger (at this moment, 51,004 members, making it the 3rd largest on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, ahead of Oprah's Book Club with 40,549), the issue of people not reading the Group Rules before they post has gotten out of hand.

Once posters realize why their post has been closed, they are free to edit their headers to add the correct information.

For years moderators have been willing to edit posters' headers for them to add genre and plot details - and we may continue to do so, here and there. But posters shouldn't rely on this. Given the enormous size of the group and the number of new threads every day moderators simply don't have time to edit every single header.

I already do spend quite a bit of time editing posters' headers (without indicating that I've done so) - just to correct spelling errors (which makes searches more reliable), or to add plot details when they are scant.

Don't the closed threads disappear?

If the OP creates a new thread for the same book, we may delete the closed thread - but only after migrating over any important information.

We wouldn't delete a thread automatically.

I've seen several cases where a thread was locked due to not having details in the header, then was edited to fix the title, but a moderator hadn't come back around to reopen it yet. Is there a way to flag these or otherwise alert mods that the thread has been fixed?

I'm not expecting that the mods are going to check every single locked thread every day or anything like that :P so I was wondering if it'd be helpful if us non-mods could bring those fixed threads to the mods' attention. Then they could be reopened more quickly without the mods having to go through all of them!
