Most likely it's because the librarians are over 60 thus the new books tend to be THAT kind. Add the factor that they might not read much anymore so their book preferences tend to be a little outdated.

Oh don't worry, I've accepted the fact that I'll never see a library in my lifetime. I'm building my own ;) I kid. But then I kind of buy books faster than I read them. *sigh*
