Dear Members,

Going on our third year here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ we looked into expanding our reward system into something more flexible for everyone to use. The old ENC system will remain in place, with more options being introduced as we figure stuff out.

So here it is, our new Group Point system to all our members. It is a reward system that is easy to use and that has the potential for introducing more features as we go along.

Group Points can be earned through participation in group discussions, challenges and other events. Acquired Group Points may be traded in for various group related items:

3 points - be the one to decide the next Upcoming Reads theme by selecting one of the group bookshelves for us to read from.

3 points - purchase an ENC point which you can use to pick one of the nominated reads as one of our Monthly Reads.

2 points - ask a moderator to look up a book from our bookshelf. We will find the best legal source for the book!

1 point - every member who wishes to enter our giveaways that feature monetary gifts, such as Amazon Gift Cards, will be required to use one point to enter the sweepstakes.

The importance of the point system is that we will be able to show or appreciation to our more active members through little services our group can provide.

Here are some of the ways members can acquire Group Points:


- every book read for one of our challenges will now yield a Group Point

- group posts will yield a free point at these milestones: 30posts, 80posts, 150posts, 300posts, 400posts and every 100posts after that

- various games and events will always feature Group Points as prizes

Ah great - thank you. One more point can be added because I've just finished Flowers of Vashnoi (I was only missing 3 of the Vorkosigan saga books, so the others don't count, I had read them before).

I'll add all the challenge points upon closing the challenge, sorry. That is the only way I can keep track of that.

I have a question (hope it is okay here, otherwise I'll delete it): the points for challenges are only for books that were read after the challenge started, are they? Not for parts of the series one has read earlier.

Yes, so for New Crobuzon there will be two points awarded, a point each for volumes 2 and 3.

If anybody feels like making a group point (or three!), feel free to volunteer as a discussion leader.

You don't have to do anything extraordinary, just discuss the aspects of the novel that interest you. Be it the plot, characters or the author themselves!
