Camilla The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider
3.82 of 5 stars - 17,570 ratings - 2,194 reviews

Golden boy Ezra Faulkner believes everyone has a tragedy waiting for them—a single encounter after which everything that really matters will happen. His particular tragedy waited until he was primed to lose it all: in one spectacular night, a reckless driver shatters Ezra’s knee, his athletic career, and his social life.

No longer a front-runner for Homecoming King, Ezra finds himself at the table of misfits, where he encounters new girl Cassidy Thorpe. Cassidy is unlike anyone Ezra’s ever met, achingly effortless, fiercely intelligent, and determined to bring Ezra along on her endless adventures.

But as Ezra dives into his new studies, new friendships, and new love, he learns that some people, like books, are easy to misread. And now he must consider: if one’s singular tragedy has already hit and everything after it has mattered quite a bit, what happens when more misfortune strikes?

Robyn Schneider’s The Beginning of Everything is a lyrical, witty, and heart-wrenching novel about how difficult it is to play the part that people expect, and how new beginnings can stem from abrupt and tragic endings.

Camilla I will be reading this book. I chose it because it was recommended to me in another group's Not So Secret Santa challenge (but I could not get it from the library in time for Christmas, I will receive it in the beginning of January) and I'm using it for some other challenges as well. It has been shelved as romance by over 200 readers.

Camilla Duh, still waiting for the book to arrive from the library. It seems to be in transport though, so I should receive it either today or next Tuesday.

Great to have somebody else reading it with me! I need to finish my week 1 book first, but will start in a few days. Let me know how you feel about it.

Berit | 138 comments I am hoping to start this later today so I will let you know

Camilla I managed 5 chapters yesterday. I seldom read contemporary YA (more geared towards fantasy YA), but this seems okay. Poor Ezra, being so abandoned by his "friends" after the accident. The writing is quite humorous as well.

Berit | 138 comments I'm almost done with the book. I enjoy it I'm a little more into the contemporary YA then the fantasy so it's a little more my style.it's funny that you mention that about Ezra's friends my daughter is in high school and is very popular and is learning very quickly who her real friends are. fortunately it didn't take a major tragedy for her to figure that out.I enjoyed this book not my favorite but not the worst I've ever read either, enjoy, let me know how youare getting along with it.I like all the characters well the ones in as Rose group I find the others the jocks and the cheerleaders of which I have a son who's a jock and a daughter who's a cheerleader a little too over-the-top also I live in California so it's not exactly quite like that and I think this fictional city is pretty much where I live

Berit | 138 comments Red Rising?just was wondering if that was worth the read?My earlier comment was a bit of a run-on sentence :-) but it was early here in my defense. Just finished the book I enjoyed it but it was not my favorite for sure. Let me know when you're done and how you felt about it. Then I can disclose a little more about it. Also have you read the book

Berit | 138 comments Not quite sure how my last post got a little messed up but I'm sure you can figure it out :-) have a good day

Currently still reading, about 10 chapters into it. Wondering what Cassidy's secret is?

About Red Rising: I think it has been a popular read and I just bought it after fondling it a few times in the bookstore. Haven't had time to read it though.

Berit | 138 comments I didn't guess her secret until I was about half way through the book or so I am interested to hear your thoughts, the more I think about it the more I actually like the book and really actually did like the ending.
